Meet Your Maker: Gus Graves of Roachparade!

How did you get started with your business?

“I’ve been an artist my whole life but feel I’ve only recently been able to make it my main business. I’ve been a working illustrator for ten years and have tried everything under the sun from comics to games to children’s books until I found my true love in tattooing and print making. I have been tattooing for five years and two years ago helped build our little tattoo studio. Print making is a new thing to me but I am so stoked with every new project and have so much fun creating things by hand.”

What is your favorite part of your process?

“I love learning. Every piece I try to do something new and challenge myself. Asking my peers about their processes and finding news ways to look at the same subject and improving my craft keeps things exciting.”

What is one of your favorite things to do in Richmond?

“It’s gotta be going to the local record stores and thrifting vinyls and CDs”
