On February 7th + 8th, 2026, 18 Leeds/Yorkshire based artists, musicians and creatives gathered to reimagine and perform Algae Bloom; with our returning string quartet that performed it on the record and a 7 person choir comprised of front people of Leeds rock bands. It was such a special two days, where people made art, made memories and new friends. Our aim was to unite 8 different bands in one project that connects our scene and celebrates the immense talent in and around the city of Leeds, where we all met and formed all of the bands represented in this song and live session. And a huge thank you to @buffyhasacello who stepped in on the day of recording and saved the shoot. Buffy didn’t know the song prior or any of us, she learnt the part in a matter of hours and knocked it out of the park, take after take. We couldn’t have done this without her. To our string quartet, you never cease to amaze us with your talent, your dedication, your incredible playing and your otherworldly etherealness. Thank you for once again lending your skills to our music. To our choir, thank you for your joy, your energy, your angelic voices. For sharing stages, studios, venues and merch tables with us over the years. We couldn’t ask for more, we adore you. This was on of our favourite experiences in the Soul Rot universe we’ve built, and it’s an honour to get to share it with you now. Algae Bloom (Orchestral), from the Soul Rot Forever EP, is out now. Soul Rot Forever drops October 14th. We cannot wait for it to be yours. Algae Bloom (Orchestral) is: -Rae Brazill + Rob Arkle of Artio -Amber of Daisy Graves @daisygravesband -Elsie of Helle @hellebandofficial -Cerys of Omoia @omoia.band -Emma of Breathing Below @breathing.below -Bebe of Ocean Floor -Zoë of IO @ioband_official -Loz of Lavender Gray @lavendergraymusic Arranged and conducted by Kirk Boyd Produced by Ieuan Jones Piano - Kirk Boyd @kirk_bmusic Violin 2 - Erin Laurie @erinlaurie.music Cello - Buffy Hughes @buffyhasacello Viola - Elle Weaver @eweaver.music Violin 1 - Lucy Reynolds @lucyreyn0lds Photography by @shermanlovesthecure Edited by @indigo_frames Layout by @raebrazill
