Attempting to find adequate words for this medicine ~ months of anticipation culminating into a beautiful, introspective and challenging time in the mountains. Deep confrontation with being present in my body, being present (generally) and moving through the ebbs and flows of moments of discomfort and moments of complete awe.

I’m still sitting with / gestating all that has been brought into my life from this time. As someone who has struggled in the past to delve into somatic practices, this was by far the most sensory and grounding way to detox from the overculture.

Surrounded by an abundance of life, as well as dying forests, I was reminded of the 100 million years of change that brought forth the carving of the canyons, the tectonic activity and erosion that led to the birth of the Sierras and the multitude of life forms that have traversed these paths before me.

All throughout, I was met with native wildflowers, pines, Sierra Junipers, Incense cedars and aspens. I meandered past alpine lakes, huge granite boulders, meadows filled with lupines, Larkspur and coyote mint, and open hillsides covered in manzanita.

So much life, complexity, birth and death. For 11 days, from sunrise to sunset, I had the gift of being humbled and held by these grandmothers…..more than I could ever ask for❣️
