Iowa State has a very interesting receiver group this season.

With star receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel graduating and moving on to the Texans. The Cyclones return only 11% of their receiving production. With Carson Brown and Eli Green making up the majority of that. In fact Green and Brown are the only returning receivers with over 20 yards last year. However transfers Xavier Townsend from UCF and Chase Sowell from ECU. Both of them were highly sought after transfers who ultimately choose to come to Ames. Townsend was limited with injury last year but showed his ability to be an interesting gadget player. He is skilled in receiving, rushing and and special teams. I’m really excited to see how Matt Campbell and Taylor Mouser will use him and his diverse skill set. Chase Sowell also has a great year at Eastern Carolina last year. Last year he had 678 yards in 9 games, he is a big play receiver averaging nearly 20 yards per Catch and he also had 7 catches of over 40 yards. The leading returning receiver is Carson Brown who was solid in limited opportunities but should be able to get more looks this year. Brett Eskilden is also a returning player people are really excited. He’s a quick receiver who also showed value on special teams last year. Daniel Jackson also returns but with his lengthy injury history it’s hard to predict that he stays healthy the whole season. Finally there are also lots of young freshmen including Zay Robinson, Karon Brookins, Dylann Malone, and Sam Zelenovich.
