🔍 TRUST AI IQ™ MYTH BUSTER

CAN YOU TRUST AI TO MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT YOUR JOB?

❌ MYTH: “If AI recommends firing someone, the decision must be accurate and unbiased.”

✅ VERDICT: FALSE.

AI can produce inaccurate recommendations and reflect biases in its data, design, and use. NIST identifies reliability, transparency, accountability, privacy, and managing harmful bias as essential considerations for trustworthy AI. Automation alone does not establish trust. (airc.nist.gov)

⚖️ WHAT CALIFORNIA’S NEW LAW MEANS

California signed SB 947 on September 30, 2026. Its workplace requirements begin July 1, 2027. Covered employers cannot rely solely on automated decision systems to fire or discipline employees. When they primarily rely on these systems, human corroboration and written notice are required, with access to a description of the employee’s data upon request. (legiscan.com)

💡 WHY I DESIGNED TRUST AI IQ™

I created TRUST AI IQ™ to address the underlying challenge: how do we evaluate AI-generated information before trusting it?

Through the platform, organizations evaluate AI-generated content for accuracy, transparency, bias, accountability, privacy, and human oversight. Its Trust Assessment, AI Risk Analyzer, and Organization Reports support a structured approach to examining trust.

These are the same concerns that matter when AI influences decisions affecting people’s livelihoods. The platform supports evaluation and human judgment; employers still need to verify employment recommendations and maintain appropriate decision records.

Before acting on an AI recommendation, ask:

🔎 What evidence supports it?
📊 Is the information accurate and complete?
⚠️ Could bias affect the result?
👤 Who reviewed it and takes responsibility?

Trust must be earned through evidence, transparency, and accountability.

A good conference session should change what someone does when they get back to work.

MidwestCon 2026 was designed around practical outputs, including a creative repricing worksheet, a workforce readiness list and a capital commitment card.

For 2027, we are looking for engineers, lawyers, clinicians, operators and researchers who can turn their expertise into something practitioners can actually use.

Speaker applications are open.

Tag someone whose work belongs on the MidwestCon program.

The first day of MidwestCon cost nothing to enter.

Local businesses, community groups and individuals had a free way into the programme before later days dealt with workforce decisions, capital, trust and governance.

By Friday, attendees left with three actions for the next thirty days.

People who were there: send this to the person who should have come with you.

People discovering MidwestCon now: follow MidwestCon to see what this region does between Septembers.

As MidwestCon @midwestcon_ 2026 comes to a close, I am reflecting on an incredible last day at UC Digital Futures. Beyond the breakthrough technologies, what made this gathering truly unforgettable was the energy in the room—the authentic connections, real conversations, and the shared commitment to driving meaningful impact for our community, our state, and our nation.

We moved well past the surface-level hype to tackle the critical questions defining our collective future:
The Human Element & Workforce: Protecting human advantage, navigating workforce transitions, and embedding empathy into the age of synthetic intelligence.
Economic & Industrial Revitalization: Harnessing Physical AI to power the Midwest’s industrial future and convert tech momentum into long-term regional wealth.
Ethics, Governance & Law: Defining frameworks for responsible AI, aligning state and national policy, and maintaining public trust.
Critical Infrastructure: Deep-diving into data center growth, rising energy demands, and their tangible impact on local communities.
Sector Breakthroughs: Unpacking practical AI applications across healthcare, finance, law, and the creative arts.
A sincere thank you to our keynotes, panelists, and visionary leaders who shared their expertise and strategic vision: Rob Richardson, NICOLE DUNBAR, CMS, Kelly Cohen, Greg Landsman, Bernie Moreno, Jon Husted,
Magdalena Grossman

Your leadership elevated every track.
This milestone event would not have been possible without our host venue, The 1819 Innovation Hub, alongside our founding sponsors, ecosystem partners, and the dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

2026 proved that our region is a major force in the AI ecosystem. We tackled hard conversations, established clear goals, and built lasting partnerships.
Take a look at the video recap below to see how it all unfolded—and let's carry this momentum straight into MidwestCon 2027! 🚀

One final question before MidwestCon ends:

What happens next?

At 4:45 PM, @robforohio gives the Closing Call to Action and brings four days of building, debate, policy, investment, creativity and connection back to what happens after everyone leaves Cincinnati.

Then at 5:00 PM, we close the week together at the Closing Reception.

Today, the people behind the work get recognized.

The Disruptors Awards honor leaders showing real impact with AI across the organizations and communities they serve.

@nicolecongruent hosts the ceremony, with @robforohio presenting the awards.

After a week of ideas, debates and building, this is where MidwestCon puts names to the work moving forward.

What should Congress actually do about AI now?

Congressman @greglandsman joins @robforohio at MidwestCon today for a 30-minute fireside on the policy questions moving faster than government.

Jobs and displacement.
AI and children.
Public trust.
The standards an AI system should have to meet before government calls it safe.

Landsman enters the conversation with active legislation of his own. Earlier this month, he co-introduced the bipartisan Doctors Not AI Act, focused on keeping qualified healthcare professionals responsible for medical-necessity decisions when AI is involved.

20 minutes of conversation.
10 minutes of audience Q&A.

These are the moments that never make it onto the agenda.

The introduction between sessions.
The conversation that keeps going.
The laugh with someone you met twenty minutes ago.
The person whose work you finally get to ask about directly.

MidwestCon is built for learning, but look at the people in these photos.

This is what happens when the people building, investing in, questioning and using AI actually get together.

You still have time to be part of it.

MidwestCon opened Day One by asking the room what AI should never do.

Rob Richardson and Nicole Dunbar led seven live questions across leadership, human review, agent boundaries, workload and proof of value.

The room also worked through the Five Levels of AI Integration, moving beyond access to the harder questions of responsibility: who owns the decision, where human judgment stays and how results get verified.

The opening framed the day around:

Results = Expertise × Clarity.
