While painting is a form of covering, @paulinebazignan ’s art is paradoxically defined by revelation. The artist plays on the line between presence and absence, appearance and disappearance, creating a mysterious alchemy. Through circles and fluid shapes, her work explores what lies beyond the visible, inviting a different perception and making the invisible perceptible. Water and fire are key elements in her process, revealing her creations through destruction or erasure, infusing her works with a sense of lightness and metamorphosis. The artist embraces accident and the unexpected as creative forces, favouring the unpredictable over the predictable result to give birth to works imbued with meaning and mystery. In her paintings, Pauline Bazignan continues her exploration of a more subtle style of painting, where the image is never imposed but suggested. Through successive layers, scraped or absorbed, she brings out floating forms, as if they were emerging from the surface of a memory. The material seems to work on its own: sometimes fluid, sometimes denser, it reveals tensions between control of the gesture and openness to the unexpected. Nothing is fixed, everything remains in motion. Her works do not seek to represent a subject: they offer a space, a suspended moment in time, a sensation. A point of balance between what appears and what disappears. Through this interplay of shapes and colours, she invites us to discover what lies beyond the motif and questions the manifestations of a hidden reality. #paulinebazignan #frederickmourauxgallery #brussels #artbrussels #rivolibrussels

Portrait Robert Devriendt (1955, Belgium) creates figurative miniature paintings with outstanding technical mastery and meticulous attention to detail, evoking a distinct tradition of Flemish painting. He depicts small-scale scenes, often set within natural landscapes and punctuated by figures or objects of pronounced sensuality, in which intriguing actions unfold. Often presented in sequences, these vignettes function according to the principle of the film still, generating a narrative framework of strong suggestive power. Fetishism, drama, and hunting are recurring motifs in his storyboards, where literary references (Haruki Murakami, noir fiction) and cinematic influences (David Lynch, Alfred Hitchcock) intertwine with the history of classical painting. Robert Devriendt has been represented by Loevenbruck for twenty years. He presented his first monographic exhibition at the gallery in 2006, following exhibitions at S.M.A.K., Gent (@smakgent) in 2001 and Château d’Oiron (@chateauoiron) in 2005. His works are held in prominent public and private collections, including the 21c Museum in Louisville (@21chotels), the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris (@fondationlv), the MOCAK – Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow (@mocak), the Mu.ZEE in Ostend (@mu.zee), the National Bank of Belgium, and the SMAK in Ghent (@smakgent). His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions in major European institutions, notably at the Marta Herford Museum in Germany (@martaherford), the MUba Eugène Leroy, Tourcoing (@muba_eugene_leroy), the Groeningemuseum in Bruges, the Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens in Deurle, Belgium (@museum_dhondt_dhaenens), the M – Museum Leuven, Belgium (@m.leuven) and the MOCAK Krakow, Poland.
