Drawing

I wanted to get out of my head, so I put my hands to work.

Recently, when I was overwhelmed by things piling up in my physical space (alongside my tendency to conceptualize) a friend suggested I "put my hands to work." That suggestion got me out of my head, or rather I stayed in my head and my hands made themselves useful.

Today I was overwhelmed, but it was in more of an existential way.

I like to recycle advice, so I put my hands to work drawing.

"At the beginning of everything was a drawing."

Nobody said that that I know of, but it came into my thoughts in quotation marks.

To get out of my head, to put my hands to work, to begin something new, I made a drawing The drawing was of a paper clip.

The beginning of everything.

By the way, the song I was thinking of yesterday was "Urge for Going" by Joni Mitchell.
