Last week, my lifetime fear and nightmare become a reality - I lost my mom, Stacie Goldsmith. There are so many complicated emotions to feel, and yet I feel nothing at the same time, just existing with a sense of emptiness that is difficult to describe. There is a hole in my heart that will never be filled, as it shouldn’t, because my mom is irreplaceable. My mom was a superhero of a woman, raising me on her own in unbelievably difficult circumstances; and she didn’t just do the bare minimum, she excelled as a parent, family member, friend, community member, and all around human being. She was my lifelong best friend and someone whose presence I could always enjoy no matter how limited our activities became with time. I am beyond grateful that she got to walk me down the aisle during our wedding and bask in the joy of being Nana during her final 5 months of life. But I am also angry and hurt knowing all of the memories we should have had from here. And yet I am comforted knowing that my mom’s memory is now defined by the fullness of her humanity and not just her diagnosis, because she was so much more than people got to know in her later years. My mom’s memory will always live on through my life, Amanda’s, Eliana’s, and all of our family’s generations to come. There won’t ever be a day where I don’t need you mom, and we will be connected for eternity 💕❤️‍🩹 I love you forever 🕊️

HUGE congratulations to Kathy, Jenna, and the entire NEH team on achieving a strong and successful 20 years in business! Clayton and I are honored to share in your milestone with our project featured on your anniversary cover.

Having our work grace your cover is especially meaningful and emotional, as Clayton—my business partner and son—was the lead on this project from concept to completion. He guided the creative vision, produced the myriad of technical drawings and details, oversaw execution, and, perhaps most importantly, managed seamless communication among all parties involved. Along the way, our clients became cherished friends.

As a mother, there is no greater joy than witnessing the success of a child. Clayton, this project would not be as exceptional and special as it is without your skill, talent, and dedication.

People often ask what it is like to work with family. For me, there is no greater privilege than collaborating side-by-side with my son as my esteemed colleague.

Clayton—congratulations on your first NEH cover. This is truly special.

I’m driving 12 hours this weekend with the 18YO’s stuff to college. This is also my 18th year as a photographer. I’ve known about this cover for quite awhile and have written and re-written thoughts about it but this has become such an emotional week for me…

I first photographed this incredible home by @daherinteriordesign last Fall. It was pitched to @nehomemagazine and then came the phone call…

@nehomemagazine wanted to re-shoot the dining room; styled and re-imagined for a party to celebrate their 20th anniversary issue.

There was an initial walkthrough with everyone to plan out the styling and then the photoshoot took place in early spring. @daherinteriordesign planned, created and styled this amazing party atmosphere table scape pictured. After we had narrowed down the angle and obsessed over most of the details, I shared the image with Art Director Robert Lesser’s laptop who made the first layout mask of the cover right in front of us, it was at that moment that I realized that this was real. Like really real!

It is with overwhelming emotion, pride and excitement that I share the 20th Anniversary Cover of @nehomemagazine with @daherinteriordesign . Paula has been a steadfast client, friend and champion for over 12 years now!

CONGRATULATIONS TO @daherinteriordesign !!!!

Thank you so much to Jenna and Robert for their trust. Jenna and I first met 18 years ago when she was the art director of Design New England and our first shoot was in Newport way back in the day and it meant a lot to me to work with Jenna on this cover shoot this past spring!

This feature was very emotional for me and as I now see the gorgeous layout by Art Director; Robert Lesser, I am so thrilled!
Editor in chief; Jenna Talbott hired me to shoot this incredible home in Rhode Island; entrusting me not only to the photography but I was sent alone with out a stylist, giving me the rare opportunity to produce the magazine shoot.

I was incredibly nervous but as I pulled into what felt like being transported to the English Country side I was greeted by the charming homeowners, their dog, Archie and Geoffrey Ross of John Dransfield Interior Design. It was a picture perfect day in October and I will always remember this one!

Thank you, Jenna for your generous trust in me, it meant the world!
Please pick up the July/August issue to see the rest of this truly hidden gem!

It was 92 degrees with 100% humidity by 8am on that fateful July day.

After about an hour of shooting my overheated computer kept spiraling into a rainbow wheel of death.

As the team was putting the final touches on the pool area they found me just outside the gate. I had stopped on the stone terrace to be in the shade and give my computer a much needed charge when I looked across to the pool and there it was. THE SHOT

To the team of Andy, Jim, Heather, Martha, Eric and Angus thank you for your trust in me! The conditions that day where brutal, however we all looked out for one another and drank plenty of water!
To Editor In Chief; Jenna Talbott and Art Director; Robert Lesser this one means a lot, Thank You!

On a personal note; March 1st marks my 15TH year as a photographer, and to celebrate that with the March cover of New England Home Magazine. That means the world to me, NEH!!!
