Our final stop in Luanda was nothing short of amazing! 🇦🇴

The boardwalk and streets were alive with music, celebration, and camaraderie. Along the course, runners who had been following the @africa7runyourpurpose journey joined @robertomandje for a run, turning the final stop into something bigger than a race. It was a powerful reminder of what this mission is all about: community, connection, and the people who make the journey meaningful.

As we close out Running It Back, we’re reflecting on where we started, how far we’ve come, and the purpose that continues to drive us forward. This journey has always been about more than running. It’s about showing up, building connections, and creating something that extends far beyond the finish line.

To the Luanda community, our partners, and everyone who has been part of this journey, thank you for welcoming us and bringing this mission to life. A special thank you to the Tourism Board of Angola, Maple Bear Angola, Pura for keeping our runners hydrated at the start, finish, and along the route, and to the local officials who helped keep our runners safe.

Luanda brought this chapter full circle, but our mission is far from over. The purpose is greater, and our work has only just begun.

Thank you, Luanda, for being part of the journey. ❤️

A beautiful city filled with light and possibility, Kigali, the city of a thousand hills, welcomed us for an evening run.

We’re deeply grateful for the warm reception, guidance, and support of the @imbutofoundation, the Republic of Rwanda’s Ministry of Sports @rwandasports, and the Rwanda Athletics Federation @RwandaAthletics. A special thank you to Rwanda’s incredible national long-distance runners, who joined @robertomandje for the final 10km of Africa 7, making this leg of the journey all the more meaningful!

Beyond the miles, Africa 7 created connections and opened doors to future possibilities. Kigali, thank you for being part of the journey.

@robertomandje turned an unexpected pause into another opportunity to bring people together through running.

A second marathon in Cape Town marked the beginning of our nighttime marathon series, as the Africa 7 journey took on a new rhythm. From the city’s iconic coastline to its vibrant outdoor fitness community, Cape Town brought its own energy to the mission.

A huge thank you to the Africa 7 team, who pivoted like superstars and made this unexpected leg of the journey possible. Your adaptability, commitment, and teamwork reminded us that while the miles may be run by one, the journey is always made possible by many.

Cape Town, thank you for being part of the mission.

MOVEMENT IS YOURS

Our short documentary is OUT NOW! This is a short film and campaign about how our unique ways of physical movement impact more than just our bodies. Following Olympian Roberto Mandje, we see how the lessons he’s learned from running have impacted his life, his approach to fatherhood, and communication as a coach.

You can check out the full piece on Vimeo using the link in my bio! Will post more snippets soon. Massive thanks to Roberto for being apart of the project and our team that made it happen.

Stop #4 of Africa 7: Run Your Purpose brought Roberto to the beautiful city of Windhoek, Namibia, where sunny skies, a refreshing breeze, and rolling hills set the scene for the fourth marathon of this extraordinary journey.

We are incredibly grateful to the Windhoek City Runners Club for their outstanding support, from helping confirm the route to coordinating a police escort that allowed Roberto to run safely along busy city roads on a weekday. Their generosity and commitment helped make this marathon possible, and their connection to the #BeFree Youth Campus opened the door to an equally meaningful experience beyond the finish line.

A heartfelt thank-you to the One Economy Foundation for welcoming us so warmly and sharing an in-depth tour of the #BeFree Youth Campus facilities and the important work taking place there. We left inspired by your mission, what you are building, and the impact you are making in the community. We look forward to exploring ways Africa 7 can contribute to and support the incredible work already underway.

Windhoek reminded us that this journey is about the people who welcome us, the communities that inspire us, and the connections that make every stop meaningful.

Cape Town brought a unique energy to the Africa 7 journey. Its expansive boardwalks and vibrant outdoor fitness culture made Roberto’s run a shared experience, with fellow runners, cyclists, and para-cyclists training alongside @robertomandje.

Surrounded by spectacular ocean views, majestic mountains, and a landscape of long stretches, rolling climbs, and steep hills, Cape Town offered a new kind of challenge. Its cooler temperatures also provided a refreshing change after the warmth and humidity of Malabo and São Tomé.

We’re grateful to Cape Town for the beautiful setting, the active community, and the natural elements that made this leg of the journey so memorable. Sometimes, a city’s greatest contribution is the environment it creates for people to come together through sport.

Continuamos com a nossa série, "Running it Back", agradecendo às organizações que tornaram possível a realização do Africa 7: Run Your Purpose.

We continue with our "Running it Back" series by expressing our gratitude to the organizations that made the Africa 7: Run Your Purpose initiative possible.

In São Tomé, we recall the tremendous support provided by the Ministry of Environment, Youth, and Sustainable Tourism of São Tomé and Príncipe. They supplied a police escort dedicated to protecting our runner throughout the entire route. This allowed us to traverse the island’s beautiful streets safely and with minimal disruption to the local community during the second marathon of the Africa 7 project. We look forward to returning to this magical island to spend a few days by the sea.
