At this point, we’re starting to think the weather app checks his grooming schedule. 😂☔️

My #sketchoftheday ~
I saw a photo of a monarch butterfly that an IG friend posted. I was inspired to draw it… and was so happy she agreed to let me do that. A thousand thanks, dear Robin.

I would like to introduce you all to Pico.
I swore I would never get another bird after Rico. Rico was a very special and treasured companion for 14 years and will never be replaced.
However a chance meeting with @maggiefriel and @pakistaniprince27 in Pet Smart led to a photograph being sent to me of, then Pistachio, in Petco at 86th and Lex. Somewhere I would never have gone to.
When I saw the pic it reminded me so much of Rico when I first encountered him. They had the same reserved demeanor AND they were born a day apart October 22 and 23 - albeit in different years.
They had also both been in Petco for almost a year when I encountered them.
Thanks to store manager, Amoris, I purchased, now Pico, 5 days ago and I am sure Rico is with us as he finds his way.
Link to my Substack about the feelings I wrestled with in this decision in the accompanying story .

My long-in-the-works artist's book, Disentanglement/Re-Embodiment, is finally here !! The book is a monograph surveying my 5-year research-based multimedia performance/installation work which explores
how we can shift from a patriarchal dominating, exploitative, hierarchical society to what I call an egalitarian society based on shared values of respect (humans and nature), community, connectedness!!

I believe that it is still possible to work together to create a just and equitable society that works for all but I do believe that requires us to look seriously and transform all of the systems of domination—capitalism, patriarchy, colonialism,
that collectively determine what is valued , who’s lives matter!!! In my world view everything is inter connected !!! I have a book launch planned at @arcanabooks in Los Angeles on Feb 21 and a Book Signing in NYC @franciskiteclub !! Its hard to announce my book with so many atrocities happening in the world simultaneously but I do hope to offer some insight to how so many of the crises humanity is facing -genocide ,climate extinction , mass migration are all connected in Minnesota, Greenland, Congo, California ( Fires) etc!!! Thank you so much to all the people who collaborated on this project !! SO GRATEFUL to everyone for all your insight, knowledge, creativity, bravery and hard work !! List is too long for Instagram so if I cannot mention you here I’m grateful !! @mildredslane @dancingclay @cyanmogi @robin.flicker @astihustvedt @laurenmetropolis @morbidanatomy @joanna.ebenstein @jmorganpuett @annabel_renshaw @menkesfilm @limbo.festival @livia__reiner @babyluvah @infowarzz @jeffreyjenkinsprojects @ruchiraagupta @amyziering @sumayaawad @catherinecflowers @jonreiss @lettyyoda @laetitiaantedelictum @laetitia.cartomancy @matriarchynowcoalition @maternalgifteconomy @miapokriefka @animatika @luluhama1 @dr_wease @prof_kristen @ginagershon #disentanglementreembodiment #disentanglepatriarchy #reembodyequality !!!

Rest in Peace Rico Pookiedooks Penman.
This was one of my favorite pictures when you were so happy to be home with me after your leg surgery this summer.
I will make a reel later but the 14 years we shared together will stay in my heart forever.
