"White Window"
Chapel Series, Anti Paros, Greece
collage, cloth, photo imagery, paint, paper
30"x24"
.
On view in ILLUMINATION: The Sacred Aspect of Light 12/1 - 1/14
.
"We traveled to Anti Paros, Greece before the pandemic began. During our travels around this stark, beautiful island we found simple architectural chapels created by local villagers built over centuries. Our search for more chapels became a spiritual journey.
.
During the pandemic in 2021 I made this piece. The “White Window” illuminates a glow outward toward the viewer. I made a choice to add the radiant window to emanate more energy from within the chapel.
.
These long years of the pandemic made me search for enlightenment after the harsh realities of COVID and all those we have lost."
~ Robin Becker
.
.
Robin received her BFA in Printmaking and studied architecture at Arizona State University. She achieved her MFA in Fibers and Photography from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
.
Becker has exhibited her work extensively internationally and nationally including:

Battle Creek Art Museum, Battle Creek, MI
Brunnier Art Museum, Ames, Iowa
Mitchell Museum Main Gallery, Mt Vernon, IL

Happy Winter Solstice! 🖤☀️🖤
.
Let the light within us all shine brightest on this day when we are furthest from the Sun.
.
Sending a prayer through the shadow to all those who are suffering and struggling in this dark season and time 🙏
.
I'll be making Solstice ceramics today on Early St as is becoming a ritual way to be present on this sacred day. I have plenty of extra clay for anyone who wants to stop by and take part!
.
I'll also be setting up a Winter altar, there will be treats, and every purchase from the gallery, studio and online today will come with a free quartz seed crystal. ✨

Highlights from our collaborative workshop with BULLSEYE Glass! ✨
.
We started out at GEORGIA ELECTRA Studio using watercolor, colored pencil, and acrylic. We experimented with different compositions of color and geometric shapes and learned about sacred geometry and the energetic properties of color and form.
.
Then we walked over to our neighbor @bullseyeglass and translated those compositions into light catchers!
.
It was so exciting to use a new medium and get a chance to try out the fabulous materials and facilities at @bullseyeglass ! I know we all want to go back for more!
.
.
Huge Thank You to Anikke for the guidance and patience!

What a great opening for VISIONS OF VORTEX!👁️
.
This collection of new paintings, sculpture, and short films by Santa Fe artist Zoe Chressanthis aka @merso.monsoon are not to be missed.
.
Chressanthis' first solo exhibition brings together an anthology of stop-motion and claymation shorts spanning ten years of creative exploration.
.
Ceramic sculptures of otherwordly creatures, accented with the artist's unique symbolic vocabulary, are on view alongside new paintings.
.
Chressanthis uses a distinctive palette of bright, saturated, psychedelic colors; many of which are made by the artist herself at @ldbastudio in Santa Fe where she is the official paint-maker.
