I can’t believe it’s been a little over a year since I went to Los Angeles to draw, compete, and be the weird lil goofball that I am at the International Society of Caricature Artists (ISCA) annual convention. 200+ caricature artists from around the world came together for 5 sleepless days and nights to draw and hang with each other. What a freaking amazing experience it was to go - and I’m just now feeling ready to post what I made during that week. I won 6 awards - My peers voted for me to win 1st place likeness, 1st place cartoon style, 2nd place live event style, 2nd place outstanding color technique, 2nd place live/retail portfolio and 7th place caricature artist of the year. 🙇‍♀️ I got really sick after the con and felt pretty down - undeserving of these awards and that everybody else thought so too, but I’ve come a long way and I’m finally able to say THANK YOU! Thank you ISCA board members for putting on such a wonderful con, WiC (Women in Caricature) for your support that is so needed in our field, for my friends who gave me so much love when I was unable to give it to myself, for Kiko and Marco - drawing with y’all was one of the funnest moments of 2023 -, sweet angel baby Nate who helped me hang up and take down my wall, and to Steve Dorris for being the world’s slowest caricature artist.😌 It’s a joy of my life to get to do this. Our adventures with the bestest dog in the world ended peacefully at home today, exactly 8 years, 1 week & 1 day after Ruggles came into our lives. We spoiled him silly with a pile of pancakes, peanut butter, and all of our love before putting him to rest. We thought our time with him was almost over back in October 2023 when he went into the ER for the weekend and was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma. But with treatments and lots of love, Ruggles gave us the best gift we could ever imagine - more time. It’s impossible to describe the pain we feel in his absence but we can’t help but be grateful for every day we had with him. Love you forever little bear! ❤️ 📷@rebeccazenefskislater

Museum & Movie Day! Serge Gainsbourg exhibit at the Pompidou was a nice surprise and found lots to enjoy in that beautiful building. The Louvre is massive and kinda a madhouse. Saw two people touch two different paintings. 🤯😱 Finished the day off by seeing the new Wes Anderson flick debut by the canal and another lovely evening walk where the sun is only just setting at 10pm. Love being together in a lively city!
