Super special announcement! 🎤

Low Notes makes its live music debut with a full day of live hip-hop. We’re celebrating and solidifying the presence of rap music in the region and the abundance of talent in its community.

Headlined by Birmingham-based rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist @tonybontana we are spotlighting a trailblazer in the UK’s experimental hip-hop landscape with genre-defying versatility.

The day festival features a curated mix of artists. Newcastle-based @only1sengi & @the97renn bring down a bass-driven bounce with their set and we have the soulful introspective sounds of @tjtuckerhnd. All of which we’ll be highlighting on the run up to July.

A pair of Leeds-located alternative rap groups. @no_good_loud a duo that produced their debut self-titled EP last year, glitchy, garage, grime all at the same time and we can’t wait to have them. Secondly, @dahliaclematis, 6 distinct producer-artists presenting their solo and collaborative projects pulling from crate digging culture to R&B and dance.

On the decks, opening and closing the night will be 2 Low Notes sophomores and outstanding selectors from the northern scene. @a1ex.fb with a scratchy hip-hop set, to be later followed by @_ebmo_ with am always livellyyy dance set.

We’re truly so excited for this and can’t wait to have you. Speak soon !

‘Echoes In The Body’ 2026

Oil paint on canvas
160x190cm
At the Embryonic exhibition at Sunny Bank Mills.

Thankyou @theeggcommunity for allowing me to create art for the exhibition and use it as a tool for healing in the mean time.

This painting explores the idea of inherited emotional responses held in the body, particularly through the maternal line. Influenced by The Body Keeps the Score, I started to think about how the nervous system can carry traces of past experience that are not consciously known but physically felt. Rather than representing these ideas directly, the work is led by materiality, gesture, and intention. Marks are made intuitively, allowing the surface to develop through layering, movement, and response. The muted palette creates a more internal and reflective atmosphere. Through this process, painting becomes a space to externalise sensation, positioning it as a form of emotional release and potential healing.
