SINE WAVES ON SUNDAY
Sunday 20 September 2026, 1500 BST @voicefmradio

This week, Sine Waves On Sunday presents another chance to hear immaculate soundboard recordings from the 2026 Synth East Festival, which took place at Norwich Arts Centre back in February. The longest recording is a full live set from DIY improv outsider artist e.m. arson, who presented previews of her debut material (now available on vinyl from Electronic Sound), and a range of homages to various femme pioneers of electronic music, from Clara Rockmore to Delia Derbyshire.

Also appearing: the former snooker player Steve Davis, improvising blind with fellow modular enthusiast and YouTuber Starsky Carr as part of the festival’s trademark All-Star Patch Off. You can also hear another live jam between Robin Vincent and Scanner, an excerpt of dub musician Ardler Saint’s live set, plus a memorable cut from the recent live album by festival headliners, Cabaret Voltaire, ahead of their final UK live dates next month.

Originally broadcast 29th March 2026. Recordings of Synth East kindly supplied by Robin Vincent.

A special October show announcement!

It’s a pleasure to announce that on October 3rd, I’ll be doing a DJ set for my favourites, @globo_band, at their ‘Pro War (Redux)’ album launch. With support from the modular synth alchemist @robinv00

“Join Globo for a special launch event for their 2026 album ‘Pro War (Redux)’, a reordered and remastered version of their lauded 1995 debut. Expect a novel approach to the live gig experience from these electronic music renegades, with installation, projections and a small, unique art gift for all ticket holders.”

The Season 3 finale of Come Back To Earth is out today.

It’s a solo episode. Just me.

And there’s something I haven’t said out loud until now.

This season began in grief. Every conversation in it did too.

There's a question buried in the rise of instant music generation: what do we actually need from the act of creating?

In this episode with @robinv00 , we explore why some people are choosing the slower, harder path of modular synthesis, hardware culture, and tactile creativity.

It's a conversation about community, curiosity, and the quiet resistance of building things by hand in an age that wants everything frictionless.

Most of us have never built anything electronic. We've generated, downloaded, selected, consumed. But there's a whole culture of people who started plugging cables into machines and discovered something their hands needed to know.

The difference between choosing a preset and building a sound from scratch turns out to matter more than you'd expect.

Don't believe me? Just ask @robinv00
