Doctor Who: The Vlinx here’s a much better look at the Vlinx suit I helped build and paint for the last of the Doctor Who 60th anniversary stories, The Giggle. The costume originated with a 3D model created by @goodman_artist_director I believe using Maxon Z Brush, we worked on designing a clam shell system for the parts where aluminium location pins and magnets could be used so the costume could go on and off the actor quickly. Once finalised the components were printed in a tough nylon. Work then began on the paint scheme which went through a few revisions, I was responsible for the initial painting and then shortly before filming began we were asked to add heavy weathering and aging to the suit which was done with my colleagues @sharna_rothwell and @ant_1976 the Vlinx chair was also made by us with a custom fabricated steel frame and seat which was then dressed with a range of silicone and PT Flex tubes, this was done beautifully by Elaine Morris, integrated into these tubes were the lights which ran all the way up the tubes and throughout the Vlinx body and into the head, these were designed and built by Fenella Mackenzie, who joined myself, Elaine and Tim Pratt on set to look after the suit and to dress it daily onto the highly talented and wonderful Mr Aidan Cook. I almost didn’t get round to doing one of these end of year round ups, then I realised how much I’ve done this year and it was a perfect way to remind me.
I’ve done a lot of work, a lot of it I can’t show you yet but also managed to find time to spend with friends and family, though not as much as I’d like.
2022 was a year of fun times, stressful times and big decisions, the biggest of all was deciding to leave Millennium FX and go freelance. Absolutely terrifying but so far it’s working out pretty well ☺️

Thank you to all the wonderful people I’ve worked with, all the amazing artists I’ve learned from, the beautiful faces I’ve glued things to and painted. I love doing makeup!!

Huge thank yous to all the friends that I’ve been able to hang out with and who have listened to me when I cried and had freak out moments.

And always, my North star @adrogg for always pointing me in the right direction and never letting me get lost in the dark. ✨

A little BTS reel of my Countess inspired makeup, featuring the final photo edit taken by @robjmayor who is not only a great prosthetic artist himself (and much much better than me) but also an annoyingly good photographer. I hate it when people are good at lots of things.
In that vein, I should also mention @morgankimber.fx who helped me apply this neck and is also annoyingly talented but also super fun to hang out with. And @just.being.eva who modelled this so brilliantly but is also a great actress.
Oh! And also @nicolaandriolamua who did the hair, who can knock out a finger wave like nobody AND is also a diligent and meticulous mouldmaker.
Where do these people get off being so multi talented? Pah.

TW/ FAKE EYE SOCKET. Day 3 of #banijayxmillennium got to work with larger silicone prosthetic pieces for the first time as a collaborative piece. I was nervous about painting because it’s so different to applying makeup but challenged myself and painted the eye socket by myself which I’m so proud of (swipe to the end) to see me holding my baby.
