What do artists make when nobody has given them a brief?

(From the brochure) Non Disclosed Artist: An Art Odyssey brings together artists from Aotearoa’s film, games, animation, VFX and wider creative industries. So much of our professional work belongs to somebody else’s vision—or can’t be shared at all—so this exhibition is a chance to see the stories, styles and ideas we explore for ourselves.

Driven by curiosity, passion and the freedom to experiment, these are the things we create when the workday ends.

This is just the footage I got on the opening night so there are loads more epic pieces to discover in person!

Another day another carousel 🥰 I love visiting artist studios and seeing the bits and pieces strewn about (I mean, lovingly and carefully archived) as well as how an artist has made a space their own. I especially love finding the pieces that were deemed “not worthy” of the gram! You’re hiding all the good stuff! 💙

This was my second visit to DPAG (and if I’m honest it may have been 10 years between trips) but I am sooo happy to report that the shine of the first trip has not been dulled even a little! ✨
My first visit stuck with me and def cemented Dunedin in my mind as a gorge (freezing cold) town with a hefty creative presence. This time round, I adored the fun display choices in the exhibits, really loving how playful a lot of the hangs were.
I can’t wait to be back again soon! ❄️

I have a gazillion pics from the galleries I’ve been visiting so I’ll post more of these asap x
