The voice of the RVM event - I have so many memories of listening for Steve Kings voice welcoming each athlete as they crossed the finish, describing highlights of many runners including Dave. He puts so much into announcing the athletes and it was so great to come back to this event after many years and hear his voice, then get a huge hug from Chair, Rob Reid - who’s enthusiasm for this event never diminishes. Well I am back, it’s taken a while but I enjoyed walking a fair bit of the course yesterday, saw some familiar faces watched as families and friends crossed the finish. Still get a lump in my throat but it’s all good - glad I was able to support my end2end do or die brother from another mother Bill Fry run, along with one of Ashlyn’s friends. Soaked in the end, but well worth it to be out there taking in an amazingly well run event in our beautiful city. Happy Thanksgivings!

"There are among you those who will define the path to reconciliation with greater clarity than we can at present. 🏞👣

We know the objective - a relationship of mutual respect - but like a marathon, we can't see the finish line yet or the challenges along the way. 🏃🏿

We may not see them for a while, but like every marathoner, you have to believe there's a finish line and that you can get there with effort or you will not even start. 🧡🫶🏿❤

If you don't believe in the race, you will not know the importance of continuing to finish. 🧡🏁❤️‍🔥

You have to believe that doing something about this history is the right thing to do, and you have to be fearless in doing what you can."
Murray Sinclair @sincmurr
🤲🏿🤲🏽🧡❤🦅

Join together in action and community. #SHOWUP May 4th with Sasha Perron, his Sister Melissa Perron, family, and friends... near and far.

In May of 2021, EVERYTHING changed. Sasha Perron @kasalasperron doesn't want anyone to forget, and neither do we.
🧡💔❤️‍🩹🦅

215 Xe Xe Smun' Eem (Sacred Children) woke up the world. Many people seemed to care and want to do something to honor the countless children whose lives were affected by Canada's residential schools (and the United States boarding schools)
💔❤️‍🩹🧡🌍

Sashas own family members, including his mother, attended Port Alberni Residential School institution where 67+ children have recently been found deceased.
🧡❤️‍🩹👩‍👧‍👦🦅

Two years ago, Sasha ran 215 km in honor of the children's lives that have been stolen, and today, he is still running.
💁🏾🏃🏾🧡❤️‍🩹

On May 4th, Sasha and community will be recognizing the 67+ graves of missing and murdered children who were sentenced to this institution by running another 67 km.
🤲🏿🤲🏽🧡❤️‍🩹🏃🏾

🙋🏾❤ Near or far, there are ways for anyone and everyone to #showup, "bringing light and love to the 67+ children who did not make it home. Show survivors that we care, hear them, and bring us together in action to mourn, heal, and take some of that weight off together one step at a time."
Sasha Perron 🙋🏾

Sasha and his sister Melissa Perron @melissap_27 are helping to raise money for Port Alberni Residential school fund that is set to build a memorial for survivors and their families.
🙆🏽🙋🏽‍♀️🧡❤️‍🩹💝

🧡💝 #ECHOESOFTHEUNMARKED has a goal of calling our community to action, acknowledging the 67 children that have been missing for so long, lifting our survivors up,and raising $6700 for the memorial.
I believe the more we are moved to action, the more survivors feel supported and heard."
🙌🏿🙌🏽🧡❤🫶🏿🦅

Please join this vision and community efforts of #showingup to love and respect the 67+ babies whose lives matter.
🙋🏾💁🏽‍♀️👩🏽‍🤝‍👩🏿👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏿🧡💝
