British GP 2026 🏎️ What a weekend! Thank you to everyone on The Loop (T4) who made this weekend as fun as it was. One of the best weekends I've had marshalling. Not to mention our little camping group who made the evenings as enjoyable as the days. The drivers parade was a laugh and thanks to the drivers who helped push the karts out 🤣 Till next year 🧡🧡🧡

Jodrell Bank, set against a crisp Cheshire afternoon, observing distant planets. The furthest moon ever recorded was by my mate Rob when he flashed his arse to the coast guard off The Orkneys. One and a half nautical miles. #jodrellbank #robsarse #distantplanet

Bonus picture. A photo of me taking a photo of the dish, courtesy of my old pal and minder, Rob. Rob and I go way back. In the early days, before the beautification of the Knott Mill area of Manchester, we worked together at a garage underneath the old Central Station. Don't look for it. Even the road, Trumpet Street, has been erased. The arches are still there but I think it's now The Comedy Store on Deansgate Locks. There was little else around that part of town back then, just a couple of garages, The Hacienda, Cafe Loco, The City Road pub and The Rainbow snooker club. That was our circuit Thursday through Saturday. Work, drink, club, kebab and an hour or two asleep in a customer's car before doing it all again. You'd think from that description that we were a liability but that position was already taken by Uncle Phil. Phil was the last bastion of the art of gas welding. Not just welding. Phil would use oxy-acetylene for cutting, for undoing bolts and, more times than I care to remember, setting car interiors alight before going for his three pint lunch. Phil's overalls were so caked in oil that he was practically dressed in a wick. "Your Uncle's on fire" was a statement of fact rather than a boast. I didn't mind Phil. His table manners were horrendous - I once saw him eat chicken noodle soup with a ring spanner - but Rob, especially being the interiors guy, well.., Rob wasn't a fan. Tired of airing fire damaged cars, Rob set about gas lighting Uncle Phil. Every lunch, Rob scattered cordite around the floor of Phil's welding bay. Every afternoon, Phil would return from the pub, spark his torch and set to cutting rotten, molten metal from restoration projects thereby triggering hundreds of mini cordite explosions all around his feet. I've no idea how Rob kept a straight face but every afternoon was the same: Bang! "What the..! Did you see that?" "See what?" "Erm, nothing. Never mind." Bang! Bang! Bang! Phil took early retirement. There wasn't really a name for it back then but I guess he developed a form of PTSD. #jodrellbank #garagelife #oldmanchester #thehacienda #rainbowsnookerclub #cafeloco #cityroadinnmanchester #deansgatelocks
