@roc4raida Roc Raida was the best DJ I've ever seen. I'm going to keep his stuff and all the other scratch legends trending. Thanks for blessing us with those amazing performances, Roc. You're so loved by the community and our thoughts go out to you always! If you're watching this and love his work, please pray for his soul and all the other DJs we've lost. Amen.

Tonight we listen to DJ / Turntablist records….

I’m sure I’ve got a lot more than these in the shelves but thought of these ones first.

One day I’m gonna put a mixtape out on record

Happy heavenly birthday, Clark.

We’re often told to hold on to the people who matter when we meet them, but what happens when life unexpectedly takes them away?

We keep going.

My heart feels a bit heavier since you’ve been gone, but my mind is grateful for your mentorship, big bro. It’s been about 30 years since you invited @roc4raida to your office at East West Records to share your wisdom with us. The way I’ve grown as a DJ under your guidance is obvious to everyone I’ve met along the way.

To most folks, you were a really talented DJ and producer, but to me and the wider DJ community, you meant so much more. Before I met you, I didn’t really understand what it meant to find success as a DJ. I’d won battles and gained a rep, but your guidance is what made me financially independent and able to support myself. Taking me under your wing helped me grow beyond what I thought was possible. You saw through the ego to the real potential inside, and that’s the biggest gift you could’ve given me.

Thanks for your grace, patience, and mentorship. The impact you had on DJ culture will never fade.

I miss you, Clark.

@roc4raida left us far too soon, but his creativity behind the turntables still echoes throughout DJ culture and the broader Hip-Hop community 17 years after his death.

The entire crew misses you, Raida. Though your time was brief, your brilliance as a DJ is infinite, and your accomplishments and spirit live on through @thexecutioners. Rest in peace, brother.

Released on September 13, 2005, “Smif ‘N’ Wessun: Reloaded” is the third studio album from hip-hop duo Smif-N-Wessun (@realsmifnwessun), under the name Tek & Steele 🔫
Released on Duck Down Music (@duckdownmusic), “Smif ‘N’ Wessun: Reloaded” was the follow-up to the 1998 album “Rude Awakening”. Composed of rappers Tek (@teksmokeelah) and Steele (@generalsteele), the duo known as Smif-N-Wessun had released one of the quintessential hardcore rap records of the mid ‘90s with their full-length debut “Dah Shinin’” in 1995. Shortly after its release, the duo were hit with a cease and desist from firearms manufacturer Smith & Wesson over the use of their name. Changing their name to the Cocoa Brovaz in 1996 to circumvent a lawsuit, Tek and Steele went on to release their sophomore effort titled “The Rude Awakening” in 1998. The following year, Duck Down was dropped from Priority Records, leading to the Cocoa Brovaz briefly signing with Rawkus Records. By 2002, the duo returned to the now independent Duck Down Music. Temporarily changing their name to Tek & Steele, Smif-N-Wessun released their third studio album “Smif ‘N’ Wessun: Reloaded” in 2005, the third installment in Duck Down’s ‘Triple Threat’ campaign. Production on the album was handled by Da Beatminerz (@beatminerz), Khrysis (@khrysis_), and Coptic, among others. Guest features include Buckshot (@buckshotbdi), Heltah Skeltah (@seandabarbarian @rocknessbcc), dead prez (@deadprez), and others 🔫
Reverting back to their original name of Smif-N-Wessun, the duo returned in 2007 with their fourth studio album simply titled “The Album” 🔫
