Vincent’s Night Out: Edition 2 (or, “She Has Risen!”)

Goodness me, what a night this was. A celebration of @rocarajc’s birthday that started with the tequila fest in royal oak (shoutout to Cora), meandered to Condado, bounced to Bosco, and somehow ended up at Miss Eva’s by the time it was all said and done. I don’t even know how we managed to get home afterwards 😵‍💫😂 (but fr, shoutout to Carlos for somehow fitting 17 people in his car 💀)

I had just gotten a 35mm film camera around the time of this night; the images shared here are actually from my 4th ever roll of film! (some portra 800 shot @ 400 per the recommendation of @woodwardcamera staff). I think I got some stuff that captured the essence of my experience of the night as it went along, and I’m glad to share it with you now 🙏🏾

“For Rocara,” - jul 2025 - aug 2026

So much can happen so quickly in the span of 3 years; from countless late nights bingeing horrible TV shows (until we somehow stumbled upon a good one), to trips all around the country, to the inside jokes that came and faded away (“the eagles are playing the giants!!”), to all the other great memories you could only hope don’t slip away with time.

I’m grateful to have gotten the chance to have known you over the past 3 years, and beyond that I’m even more appreciative for the things you taught me about myself. You often spoke about how you were 2 seconds away from cancelling on our first coffee just a few minutes before we were supposed to meet - and of course, we can never know how life would play out if you decided otherwise - but I think your choice to come out that day may have been one of the best things to happen to me in my young adult life.

I think most of what will be said has already been covered between the two of us, but that doesn’t mean I won’t continue to miss the space we occupied in each other’s lives - and above all, I’m just happy we took the chance to experience some portion of the time we have on this earth together. I can only hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. ❤️

Thank you so much;
Vincent

“11 Days, 11 Shots: a trip to Montana/Wyoming” - jun-jul 2026

Goodness me, what a trip this was. Part of me feels relief in finishing this set of images - almost if some of the stress from this journey made it back home with me and wouldn’t part until I got through this project. Now it’s done so there’s that lol.

We were looking forward to this trip for a better part of the year, and from day 0 there were issues. It all started when I lost all the film I brought with me on the connecting flight to Yellowstone (completely my fault - and many thanks to @bozemancamera for helping me restock twice along the way!!), and things didn’t get any better from there 💀

The biggest issue for the first half of the trip was the weather not wanting to cooperate with us at all (we got stuck on a mountain for 3 hours as a part of that, and one of the parks actually ended up flooding 😭), and by the time it warmed up I ended up coming down with a fierce cold that kept me in bed for days. By the time it was all said and done, in our 11 day hiking trip we managed a grand total of 3 hikes 😭😭

From our time stuck on a mountain :)

From our time stuck on a mountain :)

One of the surprises of the trip was the people we met along the way - on the flight to Bozeman we ended up sitting next to a guy, Leo, who we ended up meeting up with in Jackson! Hung out with him and his friend Kelsey(?), played (and won!) some pool, and got a pretty whitewashed history lesson in an old hotel.

We watched somebody stand outside in 30 degree weather for 2+ hours waiting for a picture of this sunrise. We decided sitting in the car with the heat on was a better play for us lol.

Nobody can tell you’re shooting on a color film stock with the saturation all the way down :)

What a scene. The requisite tribute to Ansel Adams on a trip like this, and one of my favorite images I’ve had the chance to make in my journey so far.

“Moments in Movement, Part 1: Mudment 2026” - may 2026

(Swipe to the end for a deleted scene!)

This was the first year since I’ve been in the D that I wasn’t busy with prior commitments while Movement was going on, so I knew I wanted to be outside at every moment possible. The weekend tried its best to stop me with bad weather on deck for Saturday and Sunday, but that didn’t stop me from trying to get into the spirit for the festival’s opening salvo.

@rocarajc had a ticket to get into the festival so I had a reason to hang around town, and I made the most of the gray skies by pulling out this black and white film (ilford hp5+ 400 shot at 1600 and pushed 2 stops for those interested). Made some time for an interesting fashion mixer that @queleone_ put me on to (where I got the really cool shot of @fashion_junkieeeee), went on an impromptu morning photo walk with @bigsuede7 (I promise I won’t forget your name anymore! 😂), and hung out at as many DJ sets as I could given the circumstances. And who could forget checking out the print sale @nova.twentyfour put on at @thevoyeurvordello!

This is just part 1 - I shot multiple rolls of film this weekend and hope to put together a full story of the things I experienced while running around town. Stay tuned for more!

Shout out to @riq.rogue for the title, and shout out to @woodwardcamera for the development/scan!
