With IXCHEL, Daniela García-Salas channels Guatemalan culture and indigenous Mayan roots into a contemporary fashion narrative shaped by memory, migration, and identity. Drawing from the figure of Ixchel, the Mayan Goddess of Artisan Weaving, the collection explores how ancestral tradition lives on through clothing, guiding younger generations in a modern, urban context. Vintage Jaspe fabric and Bonaudo leather form the foundation, while silhouettes and textile manipulations echo symbols of tradition, nature, and personal transformation. Designed in Milan at IED, IXCHEL reflects a dialogue between city life and heritage, where language, culture, and self are carried quietly, but powerfully, within.
