The saddest boat ride of the year. Thank you so much to all of my 2025 clients, to my fellow charter captains in the Portland fleet, to my awesome fellow fly guides, and to the awesome shops that support us all season, including The Tackle Shop, Saco Bay Tackle, and All Points Tackle. Tight lines and here's to an early arrival of fish in 2026! Tight lines! #captmikefaulkingham #fishportlandmainesaltwatercharters #stripedbass #maineguide #fishmaine #tiborreels #catchandrealease #stripersforever

Oysters, a salty breeze and good company. Thanks Aaron of @rockandsandcharters for such a beautiful evening out on Casco Bay. Photos of me by @searchingtheshadows 🦪 #yeti #maine #cascobay #mainelife

The magically electric air stood still as the line came tight. Angel's harps could be heard gently wafting over the early evening zephyr as every proton in my body sprung to life. As the fish's dorsal broke the magical plane between water and air, all I could think was: Respect. Gratitude. Hunger. (I could smell the output of the thousand fryolators of Portland's myriad restaurants.) 18" of pure morone magic in my trembling hands. Then I went home and had tacos. #captmikefaulkingham #fishportlandmainesaltwatercharters #shutupandfish

As many of you know, this season has not been what past have. We are looking at a fishery that is in trouble, and this is your chance to do something about it!! It is time that the ASFMC takes action and makes a regulation change that will give this fishery a fighting chance. We would love to see as many people as possible at the meeting in Yarmouth tonight, Tuesday, Sept 9th at 6pm. If you can’t make it tonight, there is an online meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept 10th at 6pm. Public comment is crucial in these meetings!! Please make your voice heard, it’s all we can do! #thetackleshop #stripedbass

No better feeling for a guide than sliding the net under a fish, whether for a client or a friend!
