You can only do so much on a (strapped grad student) budget.

This isn’t the impressive rig and generous space I generally see cross my feed (and I won’t lie - one day I hope to have the budget for that), but I have managed to make it my own little corner of joy, jokes and more than a little Ghibli - and you know what? It works. ✨

I wish you a setup that works best for you, whatever that looks like at this moment in time!

One of the things currently occupying my time - in a good way - is my very first desk setup. It is going to be simple, and definitely cheaper than many of the gorgeous set-ups I see on here, but it’s going to be all mine and reflect who I am and what brings me joy, and that’s what counts most.

A sneak peek at one treasure I added today: this figure of @libbyframe’s Frankie from the @popmartglobal @peachriotofficial blind boxes. (I knew this exact figure of Frankie was the one I wanted, so I cheated a teensy bit and found her on Mercari.)

I love how she matches the heart on my PS Vita case, and how her engrossed expression reminds me of how it feels to get caught up in a good game. By the way, shoutout to a Sonny Angel collector on TikTok for sharing a needed hack: double sided tape under your figures so they always stay upright! (If this wasn’t obvious to you like it wasn’t to me, now you know too!)

Do you have a treasured part of your desk setup, or your bookshelf, or wherever you keep your gaming and other hobby collections?

Summer always has 7'Scarlet on my mind, so there you go.

(If you haven't played 7'Scarlet yet, a) you need to and b) summer is exactly the right season for it.

Also, for Reasons, I like to pretend the 'final route'...doesn't exist, so I guess this would technically be nearly the whole cast?)

Would I respond favorably to any regular-degular dude in real life accosting me while clothes shopping?

No.

When it's Ryouma Sakamoto asking about my love life, while undercover as his (dubiously) mild-mannered alter ego, and likely spreading on a lot of cheesy flattery about which dresses flatter my skin type and wondering if I might want a cup of tea after this, conveniently at a shop where he can hear some of the town gossip and figure out his next move?

Heck yes.

I know. I have a problem. But don't tell me that intense gaze wouldn't win you over, too!

Happy Monday, and a belated Eid Mubarak to everyone else who celebrated over the weekend! 🌙

Truly, Mercury was in retrograde last week, and a series of unfortunate events culminated in my chronic migraines flaring up in the worst way. I'm grateful for supportive friends, the holidays offering me a little window of reprieve from all the end of semester stressors - and, today in particular, the superior screen dimming capacity of the PS Vita, as it's helped me get farther into Norn9's common route than I was on my Switch.

Here's hoping for a less achy head and more playtime over the next few days, particularly once deadlines are met!

(Also, in better news, I got to see the opening showing of the Spirited Away stage play yesterday, and it was EVERYTHING. Highly recommend! I hope it's added to a streaming service soon.)

How is your week so far? What have you been playing or watching?

Happy second day of #otomevalentines (hosted, of course, by the lovely @_sweetmisa!)

Today’s prompt celebrates an LI who would have all the romantic presents and sweet treats ready for his Valentine - and who better to nominate than the man whose picture is in the dictionary as the definition of “down bad”?

I miss Sakamoto. I miss Hakuoki. Maybe it is the right time to revisit both!

Speaking of chocolates, what are your favorites? Any recommendations for me to toss into my cart as I restock this weekend?

(Tagged the wonderful creator of my custom case since that tends to be a FAQ 💕)

Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There is still the ultimate, but having this theme in my head again at all hours isn’t so bad either ♥️

Ironic that Persona 5 takes over my life at times when having to focus heavily on time management and interpersonal relationships sounds least appealing, but c’est la vie!

(I am also FINALLY finishing Birushana today, too, so I do feel back on track gaming-wise all around!)

"I'm just looking!"

That used to be my baby brother's whine when my mom reminded him that no, we were not getting one of those delightful, sugar high inducing iced birthday cakes on display at the grocery store.

I feel the same way, too, sometimes, when I see a Gematsu headline trumpeting the release of a new otome for Japan or see discussion on a forum about how great a game is that likely has no chance of ever being localized, and fall down a rabbit hole of reviews and trailers.

I'm just looking.

And wondering if I should be better about my WaniKani lessons.

Arcana Famiglia is one on my list - and available on Vita! - that has me trying to decide if I legitimately can work up my reading skills enough to play it, or just follow along with the unofficial English translation. I'm leaning toward the latter - after all, I glance between screens often enough to follow walkthroughs - but I'm still wondering if it is actually possible.

I know there are otoge gamers who have, but they already seem like cooler, more accomplished individuals who can work such miracles! 🤣

Have you taught yourself enough Japanese to follow along with an untranslated game? How do you play, if you play at all, any untranslated games?

Custom Vita case by lovely @rocket_kitties, and eyeshadow palette tagged for the curious! ♥️

✨ Tagging some otome faves you should check out, since it has been a while! ✨

Thank you so so so so much to @rocket_kitties for this gorgeous, amazing, all the adjective words for this custom case. It's the cutest thing and the craftsmanship is so incredible. I am in love with this case. And to give y'all an idea, all I said was pastel goth and that I liked pink and black and she flew with it and I can't handle how much I love this case. I have wanted one for so damn long and to finally get one is a dream come true. #decodenphonecase #rocketkitties #pastelgoth #babewithamobilityaid
