Join us for a heartfelt evening celebrating the incredible life of Hiske Weijer ! Tues 22nd Mothership Studios Marrickville 4pm to 10pm Join us in person for the Closing Night, as we come together to celebrate the beautiful, unforgettable life of Hiske Weijers: mother and Oma, aunty, beloved sister, friend, artist and force of nature. This will be a warm and informal evening of memories, stories, laughter, drinks, music and love. A chance for the people who knew Hiske, loved her, worked alongside her, made art with her, laughed with her and shared pieces of life with her to come together in one place. Rather than a traditional memorial, this night is about celebrating Hiske as she was: creative, curious, wild, tender, funny, generous and completely her own. Grazing platters and some drinks will be provided early in the evening. BYO Drinks A few words for Hiske 🪩✨ If you took a bit of clear white crystal, long golden limbs, a fierce and unquenchable creative curiosity, a small bird held in gentle hands, a wild white dreamhorse, Berlin graffiti, the embrace of sleepy sons, the rarest sapphire lenses through which to view the world, and if you could somehow make these things into a woman, then you would have the tiniest beginnings of the magical concoction that was Hiske. If you were carried by free winds through the lives of us all, then your black dresses and kohl and hair wraps and big boots and gentle laughter would forever be the echoes of the presence you had in all our lives. If you left us suddenly, if all our worlds shook with the shock of your loss, we would weep and weep as we regretted and rebuked ourselves for ever having taken the great gift of you for granted. But then we would settle into the deep and quiet gratefulness for having been touched by your enchantment, by your love and for the beautiful wild crackle of your soul as it passed through time and space alongside us.
