This moment is 20 years in the making.

In 2006, at 20 years old, I did my very first triathlon on my Target bike, wearing a swimsuit with a cotton T-shirt and leggings pulled over it. I walked my bike up the hills and cried through almost the entire run—which was maybe 2 miles—while my aunt @tracyjsbr stayed by my side, telling me over and over that I could do it.

Only a handful of people who have been there since the beginning can truly understand the magnitude of this moment for me.

For 20 years, I’ve worked to develop myself as an athlete. Somewhere along the way, a girl who once walked her Target bike up the hills started to wonder if maybe—just maybe—she could someday make it to the biggest stage in triathlon.

And now, somehow, that day is here.

Ironman asks so much of you. Qualifying for Kona, the Ironman World Championship, requires so many things to come together on the right day. Years of training. Sacrifice. Consistency. Resilience. Support. And yes, a little bit of luck.

Somehow, the stars aligned for me.

I’m going to Kona 🌺👑🌋

I don’t think I can fully put into words what it means to finally say that.

To my family, friends, coaches, training partners (looking at you @marksouthgat) and everyone who has supported this persistent, sometimes crazy dream: thank you. Thank you for the sacrifices you made so I could chase it, for putting up with the endless training, and most of all, for believing in me through all of it.

A special thanks must go to @ryanheaberlin for staying by my side through all this chaos. You always stayed so positive for me and I can’t think of a better 13th year anniversary for us than a KQ ! 🤣 I love you.

There is absolutely no way I would be here without you.

Twenty years ago, I needed someone beside me telling me I could finish two miles.

Today, I get to say I’m going to the Ironman World Championship.

Never stop chasing the thing that feels just a little too big to be possible. ❤️
