567 singing #BSVR 751 shoves back with the Lunch Train special past 8419 which I was standing in the tender of during fireup. 751 was originally built as an M&StL GP7 before being chop nosed by CNW, it bounced around which includes it’s current scheme of WSOR, and eventually made its way to Boone via a trade relating to Boone’s SD40T-2. #midwestern_rails #trains #iowa #railfan

It's Friday; you're getting off work, or leaving school, or returning from a day out on the town. Perhaps you want to walk home...but it's cold out, or the walk's long. Or maybe you could drive, or take the bus...but it's rush hour and the roads are busy. But there's another option... Metra train 1292 on the well-known BNSF Chicago Sub shoots into LaGrange Road station to make a station stop, with some returning home, and others just starting the journey. Just a half hour to go until back in Chicago. Camoflauged are this pair of beautifully preseved units owned by the Minnesota Transportation Museum as they snake their way from the remote town of Osceola and the Osceola & St. Croix Railway, through the Wisconsin/Minnesota wilderness to the bustling twin city of Saint Paul, with one donning its original Great Northern orange and green and the other the scheme of the later "Hill Roads" merger product Burlington Northern. This was my first visit to Minnesota (and my first trip to Wisconsin in years), and the furthest north I've gone, and I absolutely need to make another visit to this area again. When it's not winter at least... Well this spot was a nice place to sit in and watch jetskis and boats zip around on, and the best part is I didn't feel like I'd get shot! Well, unless it was by a camera. Some 4 hours of driving, some messages exchanged, and another couple or few hours of waiting in the shade later, we get the (triple!) crown jewel of the division, none other than the final westbound Roadrailer. Between this spot and Illiopolis, we only had two chances to fire our shutters off and get THE shot. Of course, you gotta get the special subject by itself too. “is that Jay Leno?” The words spoken from me as UP 4014 leads the PCBG3-04, otherwise known as the Heartland of America Tour, across the Boyer River bridge just west of Dunlap, IA. And yes, it was indeed Jay Leno in the cab. 9/4/2024 #uprr #unionpacific #up4014 #featuredrail #trains #railroading #trains_of_instagram #railstagram #railamerica #railfans_of_instagram #railroadphotography #train_nerds #locomotives #engines #railfans #trainspotting #railfan_features #railphotos_usa #railphotosusa #daily_crossing #trb_express #midwestern_rails #midwest_railpic_features #railroads_of_america #trackside #trainphotography #tracks #railsupremacy

Where the really old meets the relatively new. Amtrak 69, trailing 2 of 2 on the southbound Texas Eagle, catches my group and I by surprise, but we all get our shots as the train passes over the 1897-built Missouri Pacific bridge in the Tower Grove South neighborhood of St. Louis. Look at the TWO old slogans on the bridge! And, y'know, the graffiti... also i need to try getting into newer pearl jam a bit more Date: 06/29/24 Location: Tower Grove South, St. Louis, MO Railroad: UP Railway Engine(s): AMTK 59 (GE P42DC, blt. 2/97), AMTK 69 (GE P42DC, blt. 2/97) Train(s): AMTK 21 ("Texas Eagle") -------------------------------------------------- Tags: #uprr #upry #uprailroad #uprailway #unionpacific #unionpacificrailway #amtrak #amtk59 #amtk69 #amtrakphase7 #amtraktexaseagle #amtraktrain #railroad #railroads #railway #railways #railroading #railfan #railfanning #railphotography #railphoto #railphotos #railphotosusa #railphotos_usa #railsofamerica

It wasn't long after LNM34 and the ensuing crowd had entered town that 1066 and its following train had gotten clearance across the diamond, knocking down the Rock Island-era signals standing guard on all 4 sides. Though its train wasn't long by any stretch of the imagination, only having 3 cars this day, the chase from end-to-end and almost back could easily be described as such.
