When @graphicdaystorino invited us to talk about what chaos resonates with us, we instantly thought of the time we, as creatives, are living in. Everything is fast: a new tool, a new campaing, a technique we don’t have time to learn and what if we start listening to ourselves? What we really want to do is stop, calm down and take a deep breath. We will share our process and how we navigate the chaos we are living in and how it leads us to celebrate 10years of Niceshit, just by following our intuitions ❤️ See you all on October 24th at @graphicdaystorino

A small team with a big 💙. Meet the people behind the work: a collective of diverse and vibrant personalities. A group of friends. It all started over a decade with Carmen, Guido & Rodier - born from the irreverence of three colleagues with a shared obsession: finding new ways to tell stories. If we had to describe Niceshit today, we’d say we’re a creative partner people actually enjoy working with, and coming back to - and this goes both for clients and collaborators. We like to think of Niceshit as a safe space where everyone can be themselves, where ideas are taken seriously, but never too seriously. A place full of different voices, styles, and backgrounds, where things can shift, evolve, and still feel unmistakably us. Our setup is a combination of a core team in our studio in Barcelona to a network of top tier artists around the globe. This flexibility and collaborative mindset keeps us warm, curious and ever-evolving. We feel very lucky to have such an incredible community around us, Niceshit wouldn’t be what it is today without you, so thank you. And before we go, we want thank a couple more people who aren’t in the photos above, but they are always by our side: To Valen, Danae & Juli @vandals.pro thanks for caring so much, and for making sure we’re always following our north star. Dan & Alex @aggressivetv you’ve been with us from the very beginning, thanks for always trusting us and for this amazing partnership. To @facundocapece & Lola Ritcher, you’re the sound of Niceshit. Special thanks to @callmecuca to these amazing photos ;)

This crazy idea came from our deep love for music and the curiosity to know what the community and people who inspire us are listening. For a whole year, we weekly published a new playlist by a new artist so we needed to create a system that immediately generated animated loops together with their bespoke sound and so Niceshit Weekly was born. We developed a set of separate animated elements, each with its own sound. As we combined these assets into compositions, music and sound design built themselves automatically. Voilà! Using editable text layers and being able to scale, rotate, and recolor both elements and backgrounds, this graphic toolkit allows us to create endless layouts within the same branded style — always fun, dynamic, and engaging. The project was a success: the visual system proved to be exactly what we needed and socially it connected us and lots of people together, with so much new music to listen to. Since we wrapped this first edition some years ago, we’ve always been thinking of bringing this back, stronger and more interactive: Niceshit Weekly 2.0- maybe @cavalry.app can be our new partner? Should we bring it back? Who want to share their tunes? The 4th of December was a memorable day; we celebrated 10 years of Niceshit, and we took that day to host an event in our studio, gathering everyone who helped us during these years to make Niceshit possible. We had tattoos, we played, we ate, we cried, and we laughed, so thank you all, the ones who came and the ones who were there with their hearts. Grateful for all these years and looking forward to more celebrations like this. Special thanks to: ✍🏼 @atimotion 🎶 @facundocapece 🍝 @club__pasion 📀 @oendanlegur 📸 @casahugo___ 🍷 @proyectossinetiquetas ✏️ @ufficio.studio

What do you do when you can’t sleep? Well...we go out there and cover Barcelona with sleep tips. Niceshit community services, haha. Nah, really, without joking around there is nothing that we enjoy more that to use the power of storytelling, of engaging visuals to actually trick people into learning something positive. For this time we wanted to push our reach and for these tips to not only live inside our screens and go beyond the illustration and animation community - so we took the streets of Barcelona, hoping that we caught the eyes of lots of random walkers. Full honesty…we do this for ourselves as well… it is just FUN. Going to the printer (smelling that place…ahhh), having something physical and then going out at night and play being vandals even if it’s for a couple of hours, it is really, really fun and as a team we enjoy these sorts of things a lot. Time to thank some key humans that made this happen: Thanks to @agusta.tmt for always pushing us to get off our desks and go outside and for the incredible photos. Thanks to @sofivonlinden for joining us in these crazy adventures along @carmenangelillo and for driving this crazy bunch until 1 am around Barcelona. Posters design by @tamarozal & @rodierkidman.ii Special thanks to our cool neighbors @dubblelab for the super speed development and always the best quality. We hope you enjoy this and hopefully if you are in the city you had the chance to see some of these before they were (almost immediately) covered up with some music festival or book reading poster ;) Love, Niceshit.

We truly had some fun working on this film and we want to share this with all of view - here is a compilation of the shooting for ‘A Holiday Dream’. After several months of writing, developing the story, and building these 7 scenarios, cast, and all the elements to dress the scenes we were ready for the 3-day shooting adventure at Manso studio. One of the things we love most about this process is the different scales of each of the shots, background, and puppets and how all these blend perfectly in the final edit. We got to the studio with a solid shooting plan - we knew exactly the shoots we needed - but also left some room for improvisation: adding new camera angles, and movements, playing with dramatic lightning, and adding some hidden inside jokes here and there :) This is the best combination of approaching a film, we want the story to be solid but adding these ‘live” decisions brings lots of freshness and dynamism, it feels natural, it feels real. Once again we want to thank everyone involved in this experience, it was beautiful. The holiday season is always exciting and can easily get hectic with everything that is going on, but this year we wanted to shift the focus from the celebrations to the ones who actually make them possible. This film is dedicated to the real heroes here! Those who do all the work during the holiday season and whose efforts often go by unseen or unappreciated: from cab drivers to nurses, and to that family member who was been cooking for dayyyys! For this crazy adventure, we teamed up with our great friend and incredible artist and director @lobul0
We have so much in common in terms of creativity, humor, friendship, and narrative so diving into a hand-crafted film and writing it together was a complete joy ride. We have done this with so much love and with so many lovely people involved: infinite thanks to the incredible team of artists that joined us on this one, you are the best. The character process was SO much fun - and through this process, we explored many things and directions to follow. Starting with a more textured and brushy style, mixing bodies filled with color and arms and legs only in black lines which looked really cool (and placed all the attention in the cans and fruits and left the rest of the body in the second reading). We even tried 3D realistic cans! - which would’ve been cool as well until we finally moved to a more vector-looking aesthetic, inspired by all the illustrated fruits and spices illustrated in the Culture Pop cans. Everyone on the team is a huge fan of all the amazing cartoons (both for adults and kids) that have come out in the past 20 years: from Adventure Time, Regular Show, Rick & Morty, and so on and we’ve been wanting to do something in this style forever and this seemed like the perfect opportunity! The biggest challenge was to tell these stories with the main characters without a face! It was a bit of a push and pull and looking for different solutions, but the face was right where the logo was so we lost this battle, ha! This being said it was a great challenge to have the characters being as much expressive as they could, playing a lot with body language, key poses, and arm movements so the viewer didn’t feel that something was missing. We think it worked out very nicely :)

Episode II: Skydiving! When @fairfolkgram reached us to collaborate on this ‘Good for you, Soda!’ campaign there were three key messages that needed to be portrayed throughout the films: 1) Soda is doing something new! 2) @drinkculturepop is made with natural fruits and spices and 3) it is fizzy and delicious! Working with the script provided we created this two mirror episodes - when working on campaigns like these we really like to force these sort of solid and similar structures for each of the episodes, making sure that we hit the same momentums and highs on the narrative in all of them. It also provides a great recognisability to the brand and the campaign itself. It is fun, modular and can still be applied to the rest of the flavours with different adventures! Should we make more episodes for the other flavours?
