It symbolises a personal internal journey as well as a felt collective experience of the female consciousness- transcending through the pain and the fractured, shattered parts to discover sovereignty, divinity and power. The launch of ‘Garden Mosaic’ collection by @thesocialoutfit held at the Vestibule in Sydney Town Hall. I walked in and i can hear the tones of persian Taar in the background, i can smell an incredible perfume by @hartandhedi and i can see the most incredible and fresh community prints created by the alumni of Social Outfits, ‘Pardis’ , an expression of infinite regeneration in our culture. The two Community Prints, Verdant and Pardis, began with one day at the Botanic Gardens, where the Social Outfit’s alumni explored colour, scent and texture. Pardis carries flowers painted by seven refugee and migrant women. It means paradise or what we may call ‘Behesht’. Councillor Jess Miller, Farukh, Noor and @aminata_conteh_biger discussed “fashion that builds futures”. On the panel, Noor said these prints already carry a story, and the wearer adds the next chapter: Collective storytelling, made by many hands, shared with those who wear, Empowering women from all walks of life, from learner to maker to wearer. @_amylow_ you are an inspiration, and i hope you receive all the kindness and support needed to keep doing your incredible work. MEET THE CREATIVE TEAM // RODINA TABNAK @rodina_ Art Director + Costume Designer Multidisciplinary creative director and artist Rodina Tabnak joins ECHOFORM as Art Director and Costume Designer. Rodina has helped shape and elevate the visual language and curation of the ECHOFORM world. Her approach to costume moves beyond what is worn on the body, exploring character, materiality and form to create something feminine, powerful, eerie and slightly editorial. As the work has evolved, this collaboration has opened up an entirely new visual realm for ECHOFORM with costume, choreography and environment increasingly informing one another.
