April is Arts, Culture & Creativity Month and there’s no better place to experience it than Liberty Station. Anchored in creativity, this historic district has become one of San Diego’s most dynamic cultural hubs, where murals, museums, theater, and galleries exist side by side. From murals in progress to gallery walls, from public installations to live music and theater, Liberty Station makes it easy for creativity to be part of the natural rhythm of the day. It’s a place where creativity moves you… and last week I seized the opportunity to twirl my way through it. Here are the artistic places and moments I encountered, in order of appearance: Paola Villaseñor @aypanca’s mural by @thelotliberty Chikle @chicke79 installing his mural by the LOT and Dance Place Perry Vasquez’s @this_is_not_a_pope’s brand new mural by Legacy Plaza Hot Spot Painting Studio @thehotspotsandiego (my kids LOVE this place!) Kaori Fukuyama @kaori_fukuyama’s Garden of Transformation installation in the North Promenade’s open air gallery Mischka Ippolita @mischkaippolit’s mural by @carruthcellars’ Wine Garden Artist Studios and Galleries in Barracks 14 (2nd Floor) The just-opened Grandson’s Steak @grandsonsteaks — a new MUST! (don’t skip the ribeye taco) And finally, The Cygnet Theater + Gallery @cygnettheatre at the JOAN. We saw the Lehman Brothers and it did not disappoint @artsdistrictlibertystation is doing a STELLAR job of bringing art to the forefront while highlighting the diverse talents of our city… and fingers crossed to my being part of that lineup one day 😘 If you’re looking for a multifaceted art experience this month, start at @libertystation! #libertystation #sbfalovessd #visitsandiego #pointloma #artsdistrictlibertystation
