POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Here’s a quick visual recollection of the participatory talk I held at @isola.space, organized in collaboration with @ggfoodclub.

After exchanging messages with @rohasdaud for some time, we finally met back in August and talked all things food. How we both came to look at it intentionally, and how it has come to give meaning and a sense of mission to our lives at this moment.

After spending so much time connecting with food as both a subject and a lens in solitude, it has been so wonderful to exchange thoughts with Roha and @sarababar. We left that conversation with a very simple “let’s do something together.”

Fast forward through quite a bit of thinking, and thanks to the gracious acceptance of @elif_resitoglu to host us at @isola.space, we decided to take my method of looking deeply at one ingredient out into the world.

And so, Yields of Knowing was born. A series of participatory talks that take my curiosity and research beyond books and the internet, inviting people to contribute their own knowledge, memories, recipes and stories. The intention is to listen, learn and record what we know about food, together.

We started with RICE.

In all honesty, I started the talk soooooo nervous. By the end of it, after listening to everyone’s stories, I was so emotional. Because food is deep, deep, deep. There is so much of who we are ingrained in what we grow, cook, eat, remember and pass on.

I’ll of course share more about the talk very soon.

For now, this is also my official submission to the manifestation gods: may this be the first of many, many, MANY talks, all the way to the biggest TEDx stage, so that one day, when I say “thank you for listening to my TED Talk,” it will actually be for real. ☺️

And to everyone who came, listened and shared a little piece of themselves, thank you. ❤️

🇦🇪 WELCOME TO THE GLOBAL GIRLS FOOD CLUB MEMBERSHIP LAUNCH 👯‍♀️🤸🏾🙂‍↔️

It’s story time!

✨ Last week we hosted our Welcome Party for our members, a beautiful Kerala style dinner, hosted by @neethu!

A full-circle moment for us because @sunshineneethu found her way to GGFC because she overheard a conversation at a coffee shop :)

The woman she overheard, @mariamzoha , brought her to one of our meet-ups at Pili Pili last year. We then met Neethu at @ajar.katarbayeva_ iftar, and somewhere in there, Neethu invited all of us over for dinner at her place, which basically turned into a Kerala feast that left all of us speechless! That’s when @sarababar and I told her that you’re hosting our first welcome dinner and we’re going to make sure you launch your supper club!!

Last week, @sunshineneethu did both, cooking for our Founding members and our culinary creatives in her own home, launching her Supper Club - Mohabbat :) ❤️

This is just ONE of the reasons why we wanted to build our membership. So we have the opportunity to champion, promote and create a supportive space for the phenomenal female culinary talent in the region and bring them to the forefront.

Our membership is for every woman. Whether or not you have anything to do with the culinary world. We want to move beyond mindless consumption. Come experience food in a social, cultural and interactive way.

Karachi, your energy is infectious! 🇵🇰

Hosted our first ‘culinary creatives’ meet-up in collaboration with @chaihustle & loved learning about all the fun work that women are doing here!

Despite the daily structural challenges, we’re going to see really novel concepts popping up and so many of them have such passionate & talented women behind them. 😍🙋🏽‍♀️

Here’s to doing more events across South Asia.

Welcome to Culinary Creatives — our new monthly round table for women shaping the food space across the region.

For our first session, we hosted breakfast for 12 women at one of our favourite Palestinian, family-run spots in Dubai — @mishkah.ae in Al Quoz🫒. Over breakfast, we talked about what everyone’s excited about right now, their journeys so far, and how GGFC can support them this coming season.

Women in the regional food space are doing incredible work, and we wanted to bring them together to shape food culture as a collective — talking trends, ideas, and more sustainable ways of working, specifically through a female lens.

The Format: we’ll handpick women across different mediums in food for each table — this isn’t just for chefs & cooks - We want creative directors in food, food innovation specialists, agriculturalists and herbalists, tablescapers, food researchers, writers and editors, recipe developers, nutritionists, people working in climate and soil, food artists — and anyone else shaping or impacting food in ways we haven’t even listed!

If that’s you, drop us a DM🍴🥰
