In Santa Catarina Minas, Mexico, mezcal is still made by hand using ancestral methods and honored each year with a local ritual blending labor, faith, and tradition. The annual blessing, marked by candles, offerings, and prayer, ties the work to the land and to a shared spiritual life.

Last Wednesday was one for the books. Our whole staff ventured to @autumn_olive_farms in Waynesboro to tour the farm with the endlessly clever, creative, and tirelessly hardworking Trainum family. Seeing the systems, ingenuity, and logistics that they embrace on a daily basis was illuminating, and understanding the way they do things highlights the supreme quality they achieve. You get out what you put in, which illustrates both the level of hard work as well as elite end product. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Autumn Olive for taking the afternoon to walk us through the ice and show us your family of pigs, not to mention punctuating the experience with griddled hot dogs with all the fixins and cold brews to embolden us to the white-knuckled sledding adventure that followed, AND for towing some of our 2-wheel drive vehicles out of the icepack. We are so grateful.
