Dear Running,
Thank you. I am so appreciative of everything that running has given me over the last few years. I appreciate and remember the good times very fondly. When I think of running, I think of the good training sessions, the joy of running a great race, and most importantly, all of the wonderful people that I’ve shared so many memories with. But, I also thank you for the bad times: The times when a workout wouldn’t go well and the times when I would finish a race knowing that I was more fit than the results. These bad times taught me valuable lessons that I carry every single day and they made the good times that much better.
I finish my running career having accomplished so much, but my biggest accomplishment is that I proved to myself that I can preserve through so much more than I ever thought I could.
To any of my former teammates, coaches, and family/friends that have supported me on my journey, thank you so much. Now that my running career is over, I’ve had time to reflect. I’ve come to know that the friendships have made during my time running are what I find most valuable. Although I am so grateful for every single person that has supported me on my journey so far, I want to thank a few people specifically. To Coach O, thank you for giving me an opportunity. If you hadn’t believed in some mediocre runner from the middle of nowhere, I truly don’t know where I would be right now. To my mom and dad, thank you for supporting me so much and allowing me to chase my dream of running in college. And finally, thank you to Frankie and Mason. Running with you guys and watching you both accomplish so much was truly special. I don’t think I’ve ever found as much joy from running as I did during the time when we trained together.
I am not sure what is coming next, but I am excited to start this next chapter of my life.

I'm grateful for my teammates who've made the past four years unforgettable. Running alongside such awesome guys has been a privilege. Going into my last race was weird knowing I didn’t have any other SOU runner with me. However I had so much support from past and present Raiders. What an amazing atmosphere. Thanks, Mom, for being the loudest fan! Love you, SOU, thanks for the memories.
