Today's Spotlight is Joe Fruehwirth (AKA JF2.) Today is Joe's birthday! Joe started rowing his junior year in high school when he joined his brother and sister on Woodlands Crew. Joe is now rowing for Oklahoma City University under Coach Bryan Volpenheim who not only has an extensive coaching background with some of the most prestigious programs but also, Volpenheim is a three-time Olympian. Joe commented, "My coach is a huge inspiration as the winner of several Olympics in the USA Men’s 8+, as a rather undersized rower. His attitude of loving the process of rowing, and being process oriented as opposed to goal oriented is a great mindset for my personal improvement." Keep rowing for the "Stars" Joe. We will be cheering for you and...happy birthday!

To new boatmates, old friends, family, gold medals (and a trophy), incredibly tough races, and the 7 Philly cheesesteaks I ate along the way!
Dad Vail Regatta 2024 was an amazing end to my freshman year as a collegiate athlete and student. I’m so proud of my whole crew and how we grew together, and how we represented ourselves on the big stage with 5 medals, 4 of them gold, with such a small team. Can’t be more excited for the future races I will have with my boys! (Edit: photo of the woodlands alumni turned out kinda weird sorry boys)
