16 shoots between May and Now.

I am blessed to have such amazing artists to be around and incredibly lucky that anyone would give me a chance to keep doing this. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I’ve always believed that movies can change people. Sometimes in small ways, sometimes in ways that stay with us forever. That belief is why I became a filmmaker.

It’s also at the heart of the Dufferin Film Festival.

This year, every film carried a piece of someone’s life, someone’s voice, someone’s truth. Being able to help bring those stories to the screen and to see audiences embrace them with open hearts was unforgettable. This community is truly special.

Thank you to Kelly McDowell, Nick Rose, Allie Fuller, and Olivia Lovell. Each of you has poured so much into this festival, and it has been an honour to work alongside you in shaping the festival into what it is today.

To every filmmaker who shared your work with us, thank you. You reminded us why we do this. Your stories don’t end when the credits roll and the festival is over. They live on in the people they touch, in the perspectives they shift, and in the storytellers they inspire to create their own.

This weekend, your films became part of that ongoing cycle, sparking something new in all of us. That is the gift of cinema, and the very reason this festival exists.

Until next time, we’ll see you at the movies 🥂🎥

Thank you to @jawphoto1 for the amazing photos!

Realized I never posted any BTS from one of the most meaningful projects I worked on last year. Fractures. Written & directed by dear friend Roman Gubin @romgubin

The project of big passion and big love. I’m beyond grateful to have shared this set with so many wonderful people. Thank you all for our journey.

Also happens to be one of my favourite BTS sets ever!

Wrapping up the series of posts about “The Night Kills Lovers”, I’m going to shift focus a bit - something I haven’t posted much about but plan to share more of from now on, hopefully.

My favourite cinematographer, Sven Nykvist, used to say something like, “The most important thing in film is the relationship between people,” and that’s something I find very important to remember.

Spending such a big portion of our lives on sets, travelling and loading in/out, it’s not always about the award laurels or artistic excellence that will stay in history forever. But it’s always about the people you spend all that time with.

Smaller projects have their challenges, but also their rewarding moments - the warmth of a small team. It’s the people you load a U-Haul with, the ones who really make things happen. On TNKL, those people were @romgubin and @ricoferri , as well as my crew. Rico used a beautiful word to describe it: camaraderie.

So with that, I wanted to take a moment of appreciation and gratitude for the people I worked closely with, back to back, on this one: @romgubin @ricoferri @yankeliovich @jedi_gaurav @kurttpereira @avpol.i @pablinzki_ @keenanorrangephoto

Unfortunately, we don’t have any group photo or bts pictures from this project beside the first picture here by @avpol.i

I appreciate the time we spent together and am very grateful for your input, energy, and positive vibes, especially as we worked through quite a few challenges.

Cheers
