Meet the Healing Hornets Board for the 2026-2027 Academic Year! 🧡💛

Healing Hornets is the FIRST mental health organization introduced to Delaware State University, founded on November 17th, 2023. The founder of Healing Hornets, Ayan McCardell ( @ayanthealchemist ), had a vision to bring a community together through empathy, support, and the understanding that no one should have to navigate their mental health journey alone.

Through creative self-care, meaningful connections, and untraditional approaches to healing, Healing Hornets strives to create a safe space where students can embrace their individuality, express themselves freely, and find comfort in knowing they are never alone in their struggles. Because life doesn’t always go according to plan, and growth doesn’t always come with clear instructions, but everyone deserves a space where they can heal, learn, and become the best version of themselves.

After all, no one gives you the script to growing up. 🧡💛

To every family who walked through the doors, every volunteer who gave their time, every supporter who donated, shared a post, spread the word, or simply showed up.. THANK YOU! 🤍

What made our first Back-to-School Drive special wasn’t just the school supplies, games, face painting, or activities. It was seeing our community come together, pour into one another, and create memories with the families and children we came to serve.

We’re extremely grateful to everyone who believed in the vision and helped turn an idea into something REAL. None of this happens without the people pictured here.. and the many people behind the scenes who contributed along the way.

This was bigger than a back-to-school drive. This was the beginning of what Courto Community Service WILL become.

One event. One community. One act of courtesy at a time.

Healing doesn’t stop when the school year ends! We believe healing extends beyond ourselves and into our communities. 🧡💛

Today, we had the privilege of joining fellow DSU students in Wilmington, DE to distribute food and self care items to individuals experiencing homelessness.

The experience served as a powerful reminder that kindness, dignity, and compassion can go a long way. Witnessing so many people come together to serve others with genuine care was inspiring and reaffirmed the importance of community.

We are proud to have been part of an effort rooted in empathy and generosity, and we hope to continue creating spaces where service and compassion can thrive. ✨

Man, I don’t even know where to start.

Today was extremely incredible, it reminded me that even having very little in life can still feel incredibly beautiful. Wealth and material success do not define what it means to be truly rich to me. Real richness comes from loving your life, appreciating your journey, and finding gratitude in the simple things.

My friends and I set out today hoping to bless others, but in many ways, those same people ended up blessing me even more. We live in a world where the internet constantly convinces us that we need more. More money, more possessions, more status. But the truth is, all we truly need is gratitude, happiness, and appreciation for the life we already have. As people we always should remember that there is someone in this world facing struggles far greater than the ones we may believe are overwhelming our own lives.

That is why I continue to pray every day and thank God for my life, my family, my friends, and the journey he has placed me on. I genuinely love every part of it! The highs, the lessons, and even the challenges. I want to continue blessing others because I feel deeply in my spirit that this is God’s calling for me. The simple things in life, the moments of love, kindness, and gratitude, are what truly makes us rich.

Stay appreciative, stay grounded, and always remember:
