Influenced by conversations with @mikecartell, @mwillmusic, @derrrfay and others at The Gathering PDX I am sharing a few pairs from the YO! MTV Raps x Puma Collections. Seems this “Artist” Series from 2008 celebrating the 20th Anniversary of YO! MTV Raps is the most remembered & collected amongst a wider range of sneaker enthusiasts... After yesterday that’s a (w)rap -pun intended- on the released versions from the “Artist Series” Pack - However, thanks to @airrev a lot of us at @staple21mercer on Clyde Day were able to see and hold some early unreleased and seldom seen samples such as this Slick Rick the Ruler Puma Clyde. 📸 @rondeisel Thanks to all those who have commented or messaged over the last week + sharing their memories of these pairs & musical artist. Please continue to share. #Puma #PumaClyde #MTV #SlickRick #SneakerCommunity @pumabros @wearepumafam

(2/2) The Puma Basket transitioned from leather hardwood performance to a 1980s street icon, mirroring the Puma Suede by anchoring hip-hop, b-boying, and graffiti. While the Suede offered soft, flexible, brushed texture, the Basket delivered a rigid, clean leather upper that defined concrete style. Born as a leather basketball staple in the early ‘70s, the Basket was built for lateral support, featuring a heavy-duty leather upper and sturdy rubber cupsole. As the ‘80s rolled in, dance crews in New York & Around the States embraced the silhouette. While its sibling the Suede ruled the spin-heavy dance floors, the crisp leather shell of the Basket became the choice for those who wanted a shoe that wiped clean easily and looked pristine. Writers and urban youth embraced the thick Formstrip lines and bold color pops. The “wipe ability” made them a clean, yet durable choice for a long day of bombing & exploring the urban landscape. I spoke with hiphop & graffiti legend @keo_xmen about his days in Puma Baskets in the 80s. Brooklyn native @rondeisel has shared with me his stories of copping and admiring baskets at store fronts such as VIM, Triangle & the Army/Navy Store. BBoy @destuno speaks often about his inspiration from Beat Street & the crews affinity to wear Baskets. What stories do you have about the Puma Basket? 📸 Early - Mid 80s Made in Yugoslavia Puma Basket #MyPumaArchive #PumaBasket #PumaSuede #PumaClyde #HerzoGang

CLYDE DAY 2026: The Community This past weekend I got the opportunity to co-host, along with @staple21mercer , @oldsneakerheadfox & @pumabros , our annual CLYDE DAY celebration. As I was saying in my last post, sure, Clyde Day begins with a historic silhouette, the legendary Walt “Clyde” Frazier and a revolutionary brand but what CLYDE DAY truly is - Is Community. A community that has come together to support and lift each other up. I’m sure I have stories I could tell about each and every individual who attended but please pay special attention to the first few slides. I had to start it off with Slide 1 showing my Co-host and partners in crime @oldsneakerheadfox & @juice_puma . It came down to the wire but we collaborated together, sacrificing our own time and resources, to pull this off. I’m proud of us all. Slide 2 only shows about a tenth of the people who came to the event but this is our core group. The guys who have attended annually to keep Clyde Day alive year after year. Slide 3 is another emotional one for me. This Saturday I got to meet in person the very first friends and Puma Fam I met on Instagram 13 to 14 years ago, @cici13 & @kenny31313 . True OG We Are Puma. What a full circle moment. Slide 4 my closest puma family @n2tha0 could not make it to NYC but how touching is it to see his son @thisgavin striking his Pops famous pose. I could go on and on as our guest list of was truly remarkable. Years of Connections, relationships, friendships, and hard work led to a successful turn out of media influencers, industry insiders, fashion designers but more importantly just those who love the Culture. Thank You to Everyone who attended or celebrated from home. Your support does not go unnoticed. I can only tag 20 people so if I miss you I apologize and please tag each other in the comments @staple21mercer @staplepigeon @jeffstaple @pumabros @wearepumafam @puma @puma.usa @pumasportstyle #PumaClydeDay #PumaClyde #Puma #PumaSuede #PumaFam @_puma.gawwddd_ @sneakersandabeard @chopper_bvsf @chris_puma246 @wam427 @furkingthefashiondesigner @mr.dieu.en.avant_ @sneakerfreakermag @sneakerhistory
