From free agent… to Most Valuable Player.

Nobody knew exactly what the Marietta Hornets @buzzmbb would become.

A roster of players from different backgrounds. Different stories. Most of them learning each other on the fly.

Ronney Walker @ronneymo remembers it clearly:

“Nobody really knew each other on this team but a couple people… the fact that we were able to gel as the season went on was pretty important.”

Then somewhere along the way, the Hornets stopped looking like a free-agent team.

They became a team. 🐝

And Ronney became one of the faces of their rise.

He entered the season just trying to hoop. He finished it in the MVP conversation — while embracing a new role as one of the veterans responsible for helping lead the next generation.

Even basketball wasn’t enough to tell the whole story.

🎙️ Ronney took the Hornets’ season to the booth, turning the weeks, teammates and moments into music with “BUZZ CITY.”

Basketball became bars.
Free agents became teammates.
A season became a story.

And eventually…

MVP became reality. 🏆

🎤 Sydney Bellamy @sydneycymoneee sits down with 2026 MBA Summer League MVP Ronney Walker.

This is bigger than the numbers.

This is how a free agent found a basketball home — and became its MVP.

🐝 BUILT, NOT BOUGHT.

🚨🏆 MVP ALERT: RONNEY WALKER

THE BUZZ WAS REAL. 🐝

What started as a collection of free agents became one of the toughest teams in the East.

And at the center of it all was #24 Ronney Walker.

8 games.
17.1 PPG • 3.1 APG • 2.8 RPG
Four 20+ point performances.
A season-high 30-piece.
A 6-2 regular-season finish.

But the numbers only tell part of it.

@ronneymo became the voice, scorer and heartbeat of a Hornets team that wasn’t supposed to look like this.

Week after week, he gave the MBA Universe something to talk about—and even turned the season into music with “BUZZ CITY.”

From free-agent team…

to contender…

to MVP. 🏆

#24 RONNEY WALKER IS YOUR 2026 MBA SUMMER LEAGUE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER.

🐝 BUILT, NOT BOUGHT.
🏆 MVP ALERT.
📍 WELCOME TO BUZZ CITY.

Here’s my MVP Ladder race for Week 5🏆🪜

A lot has changed throughout the season as stories continue to evolve.

This isn’t a popularity contest. Climbing this ladder takes more than stats on a page.

It’s about impact, timing, and the moments that swing a game.

Some names will be familiar. Some will surprise you. All of them earned their spot.

So…. Who really been hoopin?
1) Ronney Walker - Hornets (30 points):

Ronney’s been the steadiest hand in the MBA all season. Something good happens when the ball is in his hands. That’s not a compliment, that’s a scouting report.

2) Zion Fruster- Knicks (27 points, three rebounds):
He’s not a system player who needs the game to come to him. He forces turnovers and turns them into fastbreaks himself, and he’s not shy about living above the rim.

3) Sam Johnson - Capybaras (29 points, three assists):
He’s named “Burna” for a reason. Every look was in rhythm, every make built on the last one. He wasn’t chasing points; the points were coming to him.

4) Nate Watson - Raptors (#1 in MVP Race Week 1)
When the shots weren’t falling, I didn’t see him find another way to impact winning. One bad week is enough to slide. It’s a possibility for Nate to climb back up.

5) Demonte Demoore - Monstarz: When DeMonte is locked in, nobody in the paint can match that physicality. The question isn’t talent. It’s habits.

ON THE RADAR: Jordan Jefferson of the Tigers and Brandon Barnes of the Mob; next week will tell me more.

Thoughts?👀

HERO OF THE WEEK 🐝

Not every hero arrives with the spotlight.

Some earn it.

While the league focused on bigger names and preseason favorites, @ronneymo quietly kept stacking wins.

Now the @buzzmbb sit at 3-1, and the rest of the MBA has no choice but to pay attention.

When the Hornets needed a bucket, #24 delivered.

When the game tightened, he stayed composed.

When his team needed a leader, he answered.

The Hornets weren’t supposed to be here.

Now they’re one of the biggest surprises of the season.

🦸 Week 4 Hero of the Week

Ronney Walker (#24) — Marietta Hornets
🏀 22 Points
💪 4 Rebounds

With the regular season officially at its halfway point, Ronney is building a legitimate MVP campaign while leading one of the league’s most overlooked teams.

The Eastern Conference has already felt his impact.

Now comes the real test.

Cross-conference play begins.

Can Ronney Walker continue to shock the Western Conference and prove the Hornets are true contenders?

Heroes don’t ask for respect.

They earn it every Sunday.

PLAYER OF THE GAME 👑🐝

Some players want the spotlight.
Ronney Walker #24 earned it.

When the Marietta Hornets needed a bucket, #24 answered the call. With the game hanging in the balance, Walker delivered 20 points and helped guide the Hornets to another statement victory as they continue climbing the standings.

The Hornets don’t panic. They trust each other. They execute. They finish.

At the halfway point of the regular season, Marietta has quietly become one of the league’s most dangerous teams. Every week their chemistry grows, every week their confidence rises, and every week they’re proving they belong in the championship conversation.

🏀 PLAYER OF THE GAME
🐝 Ronney Walker (#24)
🔥 20 Points
💪 4 Rebounds

The Heroes continue protecting their city… but the road only gets tougher from here.

Every Sunday is a Chapter.
Every Player is a Character.
SUMMER IS SERIOUS.

THE HORNETS DON’T PANIC. THEY CONNECT. 🐝

Championship teams aren’t built in the final two minutes. They’re built in every possession before it.

The @buzzmbb continue to prove why they’re one of the toughest teams in the MBA.

When the pressure rises, they don’t point fingers.
They trust each other.

🎙️ “When it comes to crunch time, we stay together as a team, execute, and come out on top with the win. We trust everybody with the ball. We trust everybody on defense. We communicate, help, and rebound.”

For a team that doesn’t have the biggest lineup, rebounding has become an identity. Effort has become an identity. Trust has become an identity.

When asked if they were Heroes or Villains…

🦸 “I’m a Hero.”
🦸 “I’m a Hero too.”
😈 “I’m a Villain. Straight like that.”

One locker room.
Three different personalities.
One common goal.

The Hornets know every great team needs balance. Some players want to save the day. Others don’t mind becoming the bad guy if it means bringing home the win.

Their biggest improvement hasn’t just been talent—it’s chemistry.

🎙️ “We’re getting used to playing with each other… knowing who should be in the game, when to give people breathers, knowing all the ins and outs outside of just playing.”

That’s what separates contenders from pretenders.

At 3-1, the Hornets aren’t chasing respect anymore—they’re chasing the top of the Eastern Conference.

The hive keeps growing.
The chemistry keeps building.
And every week, another chapter is written.

🐝 MARIETTA HORNETS
Built on trust. Powered by chemistry.
