The final performance of "Everyone Loves Dick (The Authorized Biography of Dick Ripper)" will take place at The Lost Church in San Francisco THIS SATURDAY. Building, writing, directing, and performing this show has taught me a lot about coloring outside of the lines and tinkering with collective imagination.

Big shout-out to the Vegas Theatre Company team for helping me bring Dick to life, especially Daz Weller for his great insight and dramaturgy, and Simone for their burlesque flourishes. Of course, none of this would have happened without the video wizardry of Ron Reirson. Big up to Toby Dixon and Clay Stafford for connecting me with The Lost Church and helping to spread the word.

Dick Ripper left a sleepy trailer park in Lubbock, TX for a new life in Las Vegas. The rearview mirror was aglow with the bridges he burned as his foot stomped on the accelerator of his unregistered Ford LTD. Dick drove across the desert, keeping hydrated with an ever-warming case of Miller High Life, and a single bottle of water.

He ripped a tiny piece of the stuff from the tinfoil envelope and placed it under his tongue. The acid, he figured, was stronger and cheaper than coffee.

Dick only had two cassette tapes to make the 13 hour trek. The fourth time through "Neil Diamond's Greatest Hits" is what caused his mind to finally crack. All the radio would give him on a consistent basis was religious talk and angry conservatives. The air conditioning stopped working somewhere around Albuquerque.

"I've never done anything like this before" has become the mantra of TSTMRKT since the pandemic reshuffled how I approach playwriting and performance. Constantly raising the risk of failure and being guided by imagination is not a great business model, but unlike Dick Ripper, I'm not a business person. I'm an artist.

This new show is definitely "out there" and I'm looking forward to seeing you see me see you. Everyone Loves Dick is the byproduct of an incredibly supportive partner, a generous theater, and a small fan base that gives me wild-eyed ideas (I'm looking at you @ms.mc.dougall ) . I think we'll all be surprised at the end.

Special thanks to @curtisjoewalkerphotography for all the promotional photos and portraits. His work speaks for itself. Many thanks to @ronrierson for his wild video work which brought Dick Ripper to life.

Tomorrow. 8PM. Let's do this.
