Introducing The Big Story Bash 2026! 🎉📚

Wirral Libraries and the Floral Pavilion are bringing you an all day party to celebrate reading and creativity on 7th November, 10:30am-4:30pm at the Floral Pavilion.

There will be appearances from award-winning authors such as Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Kate Pankhurst, and Claire Powell in the form of talks, Q&As, and workshops. There will also additional sessions led by local poet Joseph Roberts, Beano cartoonist Marc Jackson, and script-writer Kevin McMahon.

Our library team will be there all day to provide an opportunity for you to find out more about our service, take part in our activities, and we will be running some very exciting sensory storytime and craft sessions throughout the day!

Entry is completely FREE of charge! The Floral Pavilion will be full of stalls, face-painting and some very special guests! 👀

Author talks, workshop sessions, and performances are also FREE but places are limited so you need to book in advance - https://www.floralpavilion.com/news/big-story-bash/

We can't wait to see you there! 🥳📖

It’s #nationalcomicbookday today! Here’s me with my copy of @theshelf.review featuring a HAHA HAROLD comic I did for them celebrating reading!

Growing up I was pretty much exclusively a comics reader, and I celebrate these wonderful four colour FUNTASY books on a daily basis. Through making them, reading them and teaching them too!

However you’re celebrating today, I salute you 🫡

Yesterday would have been the wonderful Jim Henson’s 90th birthday. What a truly wonderful force for creativity and joy this man was, and still is. He gave us the MUPPETS. How many people can say that??? Incredible! I had the great pleasure to meet Kermit at this year’s @maccpowcomicartfestival and it was quite the moment. He was with his new pals @puppetfolkexperience who came along for the ride.

I was in art college in Macclesfield when I found out he’d died in 1990, and I’ll never forget when the Muppets themselves found out too. Heartbreaking to watch.

What an incredible man - thank you, Jim x
