POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Afraid of looking foolish. Afraid of being seen.

I’ve felt both. Most of my clients have too.

Here’s the thing: they cancel each other out, and you end up standing still.

👋 THE BEST NETWORKS ARE BUILT ON WHAT WE GIVE, NOT JUST WHAT WE GAIN. 🤝

As the founder of @EPICNetwork__ Network and a community builder, I believe networking should be about more than exchanging contacts.

@financialtimes, @financialtimeslive during an event hosted in partnership with @ohsoconnected founded by Nadia Kellar, I was delighted to be invited to share my knowledge, entrepreneurial experiences and insights with others.

One thing the evening reinforced for me:

➡️ Give before you ask. Your knowledge and experience could open a door for someone else.

➡️ Be intentional about your connections. The right relationships can create opportunities beyond your immediate circle.

➡️ Build relationships, not just contact lists. Meaningful connections are built on trust, generosity and mutual value.

@EPICNetwork__ we believe in empowering founders, leaders and professionals through knowledge, mentorship and strategic connections.

Because sometimes, the opportunity you create for someone else becomes the beginning of something bigger.

Black @ Werk ✊🏾

Happy October! And Happy #BlackHistoryMonth!

Check out this month’s @actionhappiness calendar for some inspiration to help you have an Optimistic October

Now - this year, the theme for BHM is Honouring Our Communities.

Recognising everyday individuals, volunteers, teachers, carers, and community leaders whose contributions help and sustain society.

You’ll see plenty of posts about this theme this month, and you can check out @blackhistorymonthuk for more information

As you can imagine, a busy month ahead with lots of events, panels, and talks - so I’m very glad I had a relaxing week in Turkey beforehand.

I landed back in the UK on Wednesday, and straight back to work on Thursday...

🚇 Thursday I headed down to London to deliver a Mindflick Team Spotlight session for Rosie and her wonderful team.
I always enjoy working with this team, the absolute definition of peer to peer support, collaboration, and psychological safety.
Great to see you all, and keep the conversation going with your profiles

🎥 Friday was a virtual revolving door with some coaching follow up, some final BHM planning, and battling the 175+ emails I returned to (where’s my PA?!)

I also received some exciting news to kick off BHM on a positive, which I can share soon

🖤 Saturday I volunteered for Time To Be Out. A proud moment seeing one of our service users who was recently granted his refugee status now volunteering for the charity and paying it forward. He delivered a great session on Black History and got me ‘in my feels’ when he highlighted me as one of the inspirational black people in his life who helped him on his journey through asylum. It was an honour to share my story with the group and the history of my grandparents moving to the UK in the 60s and their contribution to society. But overall I was so proud to see him standing there with such confidence and pride after the journey he’s had. Well done Solomon - you’re the inspiration now!

Back to the Sunday routine today, and can’t wait to see my family 🇯🇲

Enjoy the rest of your weekend 🫶🏽

Thrilled to have been invited to the @rootstofroots podcast talking about personal branding as is an intangible asset. Most people still treat it like a vanity project.

That’s why so many capable, talented people stay underpaid and overlooked. It’s not a skill problem. The way they show up doesn’t reflect the value they already bring.

Thank you to @lyne_ni and the Roots to Froots team for the conversation. It’s always a pleasure building alongside you. 🤍

From land acquisition to collective practices on how to build community wealth.

Saturday was a reminder that things don’t have to stay the way they are.

Change is possible. But it’s only possible if we do what needs to be done to ensure it happens.

We want to give a big thanks to everyone who was involved
@waitscharity @thelegacycoe @powertoprosperuk @stour_trust @rootstofroots @savebirminghamcommunity @houseofrodney

And an even bigger thank you to you guys for making this day what it was.

Change is around the corner.

We can feel it.

It’s only onwards and upwards from here.

Talking with Arlyne (Part 2) 🗣

As a personal finance coach, I was curious to learn more about the dynamic caused by the proximity of teaching others about finances while also figuring out your own.

To this, I asked the following question:

What is one personal finance principle that you stand by?

Arlyne's response was something that resonated deeply with my podcast endeavours, so it felt good knowing that I'm not alone in that journey.

Talking with Arlyne (Part 1). 🗣

After the Career Playbook Speed Networking event by the @guidedgrowthnetwork, I sat down with the amazing Arlyne to gain an insight into financial wellness, her transition from full-time work to entrepreneurship, and what keeps her going. 👀

Here we learn a bit about the latter: What is Arlyne's favourite part in what she does?

What stops most people from taking the next step?

It’s not laziness, it’s not lack of ambition.

It’s the brain doing exactly what it was designed to do.

The moment you step into unfamiliar territory, a new business, a financial risk, an uncomfortable decision, your brain reads it as potential danger. And a brain in threat mode doesn’t think clearly. It reacts. It contracts. It protects.

That’s not a weakness, that’s biology.

But here’s what that means in practice: forcing yourself out of your comfort zone rarely works the way people think it does. A brain that doesn’t feel safe can’t access its best thinking, its best ideas, or its best energy.

The shift isn’t about being fearless.

It’s about expanding from within, building the skills, the emotional regulation, and the self-understanding that make the next step feel less like a threat and more like a choice.

We went even deeper on this in the upcoming podcast episode of Roots to Froots @rootstofroots
🎙️ Stay tuned, it’s dropping very soon.

What’s a step you’ve been pausing on, and what do you think is really behind that pause?
