What a year It’s been so far (5 months) 😪

So much has happened in this first half of the year, it feels like way more time has gone by. Here are some snapshots of life between all the work.

Thank you to all that have been keeping me sane in this whirlwind of things and thank you to your pets for giving me some cuddles (can’t wait to meet Ķirbis too)

Day 1, and we officially started our training course!

We welcomed 30 participants from Estonia, Latvia and Spain in Riga to improve their design, communication and visual identity skills 🇪🇪🇱🇻🇪🇸

The morning started with getting to know each other. Participants created their own name logos, activated their creativity and started reflecting on their own visual identities before starting to talk about identities of their organisations 🎨

We love surprises! So everyone received their Design Monsters t-shirts and… OUR GUIDE (yes, it’s finally printed and we’re honestly obsessed 🥹)

We also had creative explosion around Riga 👀 and talked about the project, expectations, fears, and what awaits us during this working week 🗓️

We finished the day with a traditional Latvian dinner to break the ice in informal way 👾

Stay tuned for day 2! 🤭

Not every creative path is a straight line — and that’s perfectly fine.

Yesterday, we welcomed a group of international students to our studio. Our designer Liza @blizko.design gave a lecture about her journey in the world of design — a story with turns, detours, and valuable lessons along the way.

She also shared her experience working with fabric printing technologies. For two years, Liza worked side by side with printmakers, focusing on garment prints. To make things more interactive, she brought real clothing samples with different types of prints, so the students could touch the materials, compare techniques, and understand how a digital design becomes something you can wear.

Because design isn’t just what you see — it’s also what you can feel.

Does that Make Sense?

february recap incoming, which means another month has slipped from my silly little grasp.

and this month i’m really not sure what to write here. i’ve been preaching about how we should focus on the positives and keep going but with every passing day it gets harder and harder to do so.

not to be self centred in this climate but it does feel like every single time i get to achieve an incredible new thing, something horrible reminds me again that at the end of the day what i’m doing doesn’t really matter with the way the world is heading. after moments like this i get an overwhelming sense of nothingness. like nothing really matters cause at any point the world can just decide to nuke itself.

i realise this is a very counterproductive way of thinking because at the end of the day that’s unfortunately just our reality. people have been waging wars on each other throughout all of time yet we are somehow still here. beyond the horrors there is beauty that persists. we can’t let our humanity die in the light of struggles.

and part of that humanity is all of the beautiful things we create together. all the memories, all they joys shared, all the things we teach each other and learn together, all the inventions and art that we use to express ourselves, the fascinating nature of how we all love different things and have different hobbies, stories, cultures, down to the way we communicate.

this is really what it is about. we cannot allow ourselves to forget the struggles people are facing on a daily, the battles being fought but we also cannot allow ourselves to forget what we are fighting for.

spend time with people and soak it all in because that is what we are here for.

but also so many things happend since the start of the year. i got a new job, quitted it, experienced the toughest burn out (again), took tons of vitamins, naps, therapy sessions, protein, and finally started a new journey, with a new job, new course at uni, prioritazing my health, my sleep and my wellbeing, and saying “no” to many things i did say “yes” before.

last week, at the volunteer meeting we had an energizer question “what is the big thing you are working right now on?”. I had no idea what to say. Why should I work on something? What if I just started learning how to take rest and don’t want to achieve anything? I want peace. I want stability, peace and finally, I really want summer.

In the end, it’s just 3 months, right?
