It can't always be a great day at the races. The conditions were energy sapping for most at Roscommon Racecourse, the wonderful #Adaliz included, who ran creditably to finish 5th in ground that acted like a suction cup. She had shown very good form in her last two starts, and those races are leading formlines in the grade this summer, which dominated again! Hopefully we keep her in our ownership, and see her race again this year. #DarraghOKeeffe #HenryDeBromhead #irishracing #racingrunsinus

After testing himself in strong juvenile company, South Dakota gets his deserved breakthrough at the fifth time of asking, landing the €25,000 Irish EBF Median Sires Series Race under Wayne Lordan for Aidan O’Brien.

The juvenile had already shown plenty of promise, finishing fourth in the Listed Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot behind Nola Soul, before taking third in the valuable Ballyhane Stakes behind Livenka.

Dropping into calmer waters, South Dakota made his experience count to defeat a smart field containing several previous winners and open his account in style.

A son of St Mark’s Basilica, South Dakota is out of Palace, a daughter of Fastnet Rock.

Making just his second start of the campaign, Hazdann (Night Of Thunder) drops in class and produces a powerful late surge, coming from off the pace to land the Lecarrow Race at Roscommon Racecourse under Christopher Hayes.

The Aga Khan Stud homebred records the second victory of his lightly raced career, having made just five starts to date.

The 4-year-old is by Champion sire Night Of Thunder and out of Hazmiyra, a daughter of the influential broodmare sire Pivotal.
