I thought I was coordinated because I played sports. Dancing, brughh. That’s a whole other level.

You need to know where your right arm, left foot, and hips are while being on beat and knowing the deep meaning of the words you are dancing. 🤪 oh right and make sure you smile.

The fact that I was able to perform in the Tahiti Mana’s student showcase is such a testament to my evolution. Importantly my own relationship with my body.

I’ve been fed the trash of capitalism’s attack on women’s bodies. Telling us we are not beautiful enough just the way we are. These narratives getting reinforced when I was in spaces where I didn’t have other Pacific Islander women’s bodies around to reaffirm that I am perfect just the way I am.

My journey with dancing Tahitian has been on and off for the last few years. Mostly because the ocean would call me away. This time, I think the ocean was telling me that I needed this.

My heart is bursting with all the love for everyone who has been part of this journey. My teacher Nalini has always created a space where we feel welcome at any stage of our dancing. I love going to class and being surrounded by all these beautiful women of all ages, shapes and sizes simply living in their joy. It’s infectious. Together with her husband Mana, they navigate the tricky line of perpetuating our culture amidst the backdrop of these modern times.

So ya girl did it. 9 numbers down. Heroic considering at the start of this year, I didn’t even know one complete choreo.

Mahalo nūnui to all the hearts and souls that were seen and unseen guiding me along. Mahalo for the opportunity to pay tribute to Mamie Christa whose light is how we all stay in the joy with dancing.

Mahalo to all my friends who actually came, my heart bursts for each of you. And to my Grami who was guiding me to dance just as she did 🤍🕊️🌬️

Squirt Boat World Champion 2025

I’m finally getting around to writing down my thoughts from the World Championships, and I want to start with squirt boat.

The first gold of the season and a dream come true to achieve it alongside Sam Wilson, who won his first World Championship in the men’s squirt boat category.

Freestyle may be an individual sport when we compete, but it takes a team full of love, passion and belief to take it to the next level.

Team GB dominated the men’s and women’s squirt boat categories with 2 golds and 2 silvers. Between Sam and I, we broke and continued to break the World Record in our individual classes around eight times.

I love that squirt boaters each bring their own unique style. Some of us are flatwater technicians, some are mystery move machines, and some do a pretty great job of both. Getting to share the eddy with a group of women with such strong personal styles is always an honour. I truly believe this final was one of the best I’ve ever witnessed.

My highest ride was 2790 ICF points, more than my target for this event and now the highest ride ever performed by a woman.

Juggling all three freestyle disciplines teaches me to be tactical, make the most of my time, and most importantly, to trust the process and believe in myself. It’s not always easy, but the challenge is what makes these moments even more rewarding.

Sport is a fun way to push ourselves and grow as individuals. I love it.

A lot of the time, I don’t know if I like competing. Most mornings, my body hates it. But what I love about these events is the community they bring together, the way they allow for a sharing of knowledge and the inspiration to push each other. Personal bests are a lot more fun than personal worsts, but learning loads and laughing lots no matter what.

Masters this morning (yeah, I’m old), and then Squirt semis are today at 15:10 local time (GER) … let’s get deep !
