🚧👷 Our Youth Leaders had an incredible opportunity during the second week of the program with our annual visit to the Unified Government Public Works Department!

This marks our third year bringing our youth to Public Works, and this year we were excited to welcome the youth crews from Rosedale Development Association and Armourdale Renewal Association to join us for the experience.

Every year, the Public Works team goes above and beyond to make our youth feel welcome. Staff generously share their knowledge, demonstrate their trades, and show firsthand that careers in public works are challenging, rewarding, and essential to keeping our communities running.

Our youth got an up-close look at the equipment and technology used every day-including the sewer vacuum, sewer inspection robot, and other specialized machinery-and even had the chance to get some hands-on experience!

Public Works often does the "invisible" work that most of us don't think about until something goes wrong. From repaving roads and maintaining our sewer systems to servicing the Unified Government's fleet and clearing snow during the winter, their work is critical to our infrastructure, public safety, and quality of life.

A huge thank you to the entire Public Works team for investing in the next generation and inspiring our youth to consider careers that make a real difference in our community. We appreciate all that you do-not just for our program, but for our community every single day. 💙

We joined @urbanhikeskc to explore Volker and our neighboring communities in a whole new way!

From the Rosedale Memorial Arch to 39th Street’s colorful shops and murals, through the tree-lined streets of Volker and Roanoke - even a stop at the Thomas Hart Benton Home - it was the perfect fall adventure.

If you haven’t taken a hike with Urban Hikes KC, add it to your list! Their guided walks are such a fun way to see the city, learn a little history, and connect with your community.

Join us for a community forum hosted by the four Southeast Neighborhood Business Revitalization organizations (NBR) — Turner Community Connection (TCC), Argentine Betterment Corporation (ABC), Rosedale Development Association (RDA), and Armourdale Renewal Association (ARA.
This forum will feature candidates for the Mayor of Kansas City, Kansas — Rose Mulvany Henry and Christal Watson — as well as candidates for the At-Large District 2 Commission seat — Andrew Kump and Phil Lopez.

The event will be moderated by Sarah Plake. Candidate questions have been developed using community input collected through the Southeast NBR survey conducted in June.

This is a valuable opportunity to hear directly from the candidates on issues that matter most to our neighborhoods. We encourage all community members to attend and be part of the conversation about the future of Wyandotte County.

Our friends at Rosedale Development Association (RDA) stopped by last week to take a photo with our mural! 🎨💛 We love seeing our space become a part of the vibrant fabric of our community.

RDA is a local nonprofit doing incredible work to strengthen the Rosedale neighborhood through community engagement, housing initiatives, youth programming, and health advocacy. They're all about building a healthier, more connected community—something we’re 100% here for.

Check them out and support their work:
