Spent the weekend between NYC for @skinofcolorupdate and New Haven for parents’ weekend! It was a lot but very fruitful to see Avani thriving in college and my fave dermies sharing our expertise!

confessions of a recovering people pleaser💕
for years I said yes when I meant no,
carried things that weren’t mine, and made myself smaller to keep the peace with friends, family, jobs—all of it.

now i have non-negotiables and taking care of myself at night is one of the small promises I keep

Sometimes motherhood can have you so consumed with taking care of everyone else that you forget you need care too. 🤍

But mama, you are God’s child too.

The children He has entrusted to us are our responsibility to steward, love, nurture, and care. Yet that doesn’t mean we’re supposed to neglect ourselves in the process.

Sometimes taking care of yourself looks like a full skincare routine. Sometimes it’s 20 minutes of quiet. Sometimes it’s putting on a face mask and letting it sit while you’re still getting everything else done. 😂

It may look like “just skincare” to the world, but I believe God sees it as stewardship. As caring for what He has entrusted to you, including YOU.

Products Used:

Lip scrub: @handmadeheroes
1st face cleanser: @rosemdskin
2nd face cleanser: @peachandlily
Toner: @thayers
Vitamin C serum: @orjena_official
Face mask: @biodance_official

When I started my UGC journey, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.

And I think one of the biggest things I’m learning on this UGC journey is that my journey is not everybody else’s journey.

I have my own lane.
My own purpose.
My own assignment.

God gave me my gifts, my creativity, my skills, and my ability to create & it’s my responsibility to use what He placed in my hands.

Proverbs 10:4 says, “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.”

So when I started UGC, I knew I would have to put in the work. Learn the skills. Take criticism. Improve. Get told no. Create anyway. Show up anyway. Keep going anyway.

Because I may not have been born into money. I may not have been born into generational wealth.

But I serve a God who is the giver of all things. 🙏🏽

And He has already given me the ability to create.

UGC is simply one of the ways I’m choosing to use what He gave me to create wealth.

I’m not trying to recreate somebody else’s journey. I’m not comparing my beginning to someone else’s middle. I’m not trying to fit into somebody else’s lane.

I’m building mine.

And I trust that what God has for me will require my hands, my gifts, my obedience, and my willingness to work.

I’m grateful for where I am, excited about where I’m going, and trusting God with every step in between.

Use what’s in your hands. God can bless the work you’re willing to put them to. ✨
