It’s family first and family last 🖤

A dream come true to be able to do this musical. This cast truly has become a family. I’ve never felt more connected to such an amazing group of people. I love you all so much. @sullivantheater

AND THAT'S A WRAP ON THE CRAZY BIKE THING!
It took two years and nine months to travel from Missoula, MT to Ushuaia and back.
I traveled a total of 32,851 miles (including air and water travel), 14,420 miles of which was by bike. While only about 44% of my trip was by bike in terms of mileage, for every day I spent on a form of transit other than a bicycle, I spent 3 days on the bike (316 bike days to 104 alternative transit days). This means that on an average day on the bike, I traveled 46 miles.
I spent a total of 420 days traveling, which means that in 2 years and 9 months I spent 581 days not traveling and instead, took in local culture and connected with hosts.
This last section was particularly rewarding as I got to see many familiar faces in familiar places, and challenge myself in new unexpected ways.
Thank you to...
Colorado, Utah, and Idaho: Austin and Connor, Trail Ridge Road Facebook group, Debs, Dinosaur NM hitchhikes, Calvin and his family, Westley and Evan, SLC Pride folks, Sydney and Will, Davo, Bliss, Marisol and her family, Mitch and Cathy, Kyle and Nikki
Montana: Cooke City folks, Amy and Mark and the Tippet Rise folks, Lee and Yokie and Rose and the team at MontAsia, Aunt Miriam, Kit and their family, John, Slow Spokes and everyone who came to my party, Free Cycles

At the end is a map of all the places I checked in with my mom. Thanks :)

FISHTAIL
- "Where is Fishtail?"
- "Next to Roscoe!"
- "well where the hell is Roscoe?"

That's kind of the whole point... Fishtail is not really near anything. It's near Columbus... Well, that's not really helpful. It's kinda near Billings, maybe... Now we're getting somewhere.
The point is that Fishtail isn't really a well known place, and the locals like it that way. It's tucked away in the foothills of the Absarokas/Beartooth mountains, right along a river with some of the best pasture and fishing lands in the state. It's home to Montana's oldest continually operating general store, and home to my favorite restaurant in the state and perhaps of all time: MontAsia.
I first visited MontAsia when they opened up in Cooke City with my cousin Zondra. It was the best post-backpacking meal anyone could ask for. When they moved to Fishtail, I was initially dismayed as I didn't go by there as much as I did Yellowstone, but I made a point of stopping there whenever I drove across the state. I was as close to a regular as someone who lives outside of Fishtail could get (99.99% of people in the state).
Then two things happened. For whatever reason, MontAsia FINALLY followed me back on Instagram, and chef Lee, the owner and co-founder of MontAsia, ended up on Chopped, the first Montana chef to do so! Despite the newfound fame though, Lee remains a family-first man, and that includes not just his wife and daughter, but his staff and friends that he cares deeply about.
Speaking of which... I certainly felt like family during my time staying with Lee and his family. As mentioned in my previous post, my rear wheel completely gave out, and Lee found me a replacement, along with a flurry of tools to help me mix and match the new and old parts to make for the smoothest ride possible.
I got to test the new wheel when me and my hosts from Red Lodge came to Fishtail and took me to Tippet Rise, an outdoor arts center with several thought-provoking pieces in the Absaroka foothills. We biked from piece to piece, braving the strong winds and steep hills.
Thanks to everyone in Red Lodge and Fishtail for taking care of me and getting me back on the road in a timely manner. I'll be back!

Best of 2020. @montasiafishtail was still in Cooke City, we survived the early Covid shutdown, and had a really weird, bittersweet, smoky, busy, tense summer. Mask 😷 policy was a major concern for business owners. Weird times.
