After 2 gigs already tonight , and a sit down food break, time for one more almost perfectly timed gig. Missed the start, but arrived to the sounds of @bigfatraro grooving away to their beats. Even got an (apparently) unexpected vocal feature, while the Hello Kitty Kete looked on. With a spot of djing from @takatapunani the dancefloor pulsed away to some tight bangers until the arrival of @righteous.marcel . Adorned with headscarf and sunglasses they took us through a 3 song journey into their fire downbeat world. An enthusiastic crowd absolutely joined in and built the vibe for what was a really cool wee performance. @spdrtwnbby took next spot and took us down a beautiful soulful r&b vocal track. That is until the new direction with bigger dancier beats took over for the last couple. That was cool. Then @aramasafola jumped behind the dj decks and grabbed the mic, with an incredible set of tunes, including Aquaries, the collab with @pollyhillxoxo . Full of fun and chatter, Samara was awesome, totally in sync with the crowd. And joined in stage intermittently by a gaggle of dj booth dancers. 🙂. Tell you what though, when @takatapunani hit the stage, to the dj backing of fka.manilasativa I was ready to go. And so was everyone else by my reckons. Despite having plenty of storage left for recording, the life of my battery was spent, and so only captured a couple of songs. But holy shit, Takatapunani was completely on FIRE. What an absolute superstar. Great to hear those songs out live since the release of the amazing ARRIVAL. What a monster night. After a bit of Man(k)ils set, my legs and energy hit the wall, so it was time to go. But huge congrats on the fundraiser. What a great way to help, and supplement the Givealittle in aid of the Wheke Fortress. We need more places like these. If only arts funding was more than a sad little afterthought at best, for those in the position to make decisions.

for the people, built by the people (and still building)

over the past month I’ve learnt how to carpet, paint, lino, stain, fill holes in walls, find studs in said walls, and how weak/strong my arms are. all in all, it’s been pretty special and surreal to be a small part in making this thing come to life. a special thank you to Tom, Molly, Rick, Neville, and Buddy who have worked tirelessly to give our community a new home. for them, we are so lucky.

if you want to support @95bfm as we continue building our new home, the link to our givealittle is in my bio ❤️‍🔥 long live the bosom

From taping out initial desk position, to a fully functioning station on Karangahape Rd in around 6 weeks is still unreal feeling. So much love to all the amazing people who made it a reality despite the odds. 95bFM forever and all other stations are shit.
