Here are my top 7 details to have together before your photographer arrives:

1. Full invitation suite x2!
2. Save-the-dates or any other wedding stationery
3. All rings, ring box or dish
4. Bouquet & other personal florals (bonus points for extra flatlay florals!)
5. Couple’s shoes & accessories
6. Vow booklets
7. Meaningful personal details or heirlooms!

And truly, don’t overthink this. If there are little things that mean something to you, bring them! 💕 Those are often some of my favorite details to work into the photos.

BONUS TIP: Put everything in one place and hand it off to your planner or photographer when they arrive. It saves time, keeps things from getting forgotten, and lets your photographer start creating those beautiful detail photos without having to track everything down! ✨

A little sneak peak from yesterday. Not sure if this was before or after the florist left and 30 seconds later the wind swept through and knocked over a bunch of the centerpieces and soaked the tables… and several of the table cards burned (yes… burned by the candles!) and our amazing venue coordinater recreated them before anyone knew while the rest of us cleaned up the mess like it never happened! ❤️ wind was our biggest problem yesterday and I will take that! Overall great day!
These photos from my iPhone but our pro photographer yesterday was @hedifieldphotography

🚩 5 RED FLAGS worth paying attention to when hiring a wedding planner ⬇️

➡️ They don’t ask about you…

Your wedding should never feel copy-and-paste. A planner should care about your relationship, priorities, personalities, and how you actually want the day to feel — not just aesthetics or logistics.

➡️ Avoiding hard conversations or realistic guidance…

Part of a planner’s role is protecting your peace through honesty and preparation — not telling you only what you want to hear. A good planner helps you slow down enough to make choices that actually feel aligned, instead of rushing you through the process just to check boxes.

➡️ You left the consultation call feeling more stressed than supported…

Planning support should feel grounding. Even when conversations are productive or realistic, you should walk away feeling clearer, calmer, and taken care of.

➡️ Not advocating for you as a couple…

Your planner should protect your experience and help guide decisions in a way that feels aligned with *you*, not outside opinions, pressure, or what’s easiest for everyone else.

➡️ Inconsistent communication…

Planning a wedding already comes with enough uncertainty. You should feel supported, informed, and able to trust that your planner is present and paying attention throughout the process.

At the end of the day, planning support is about so much more than timelines and logistics. The right planner should make you feel understood, cared for, and genuinely supported through one of the biggest seasons of your life 💕

Two years ago, I had the honor of planning Elizabeth and Candace's wedding through Wish Upon a Wedding, a nonprofit that grants weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness and serious health challenges.

An incredible team of vendors donated their time, talents, and services to give this deserving couple a beautiful wedding filled with love, laughter, and community.

As you listen to the words they speak to each other in this video, remember these aren't just wedding vows. They are eternal promises. Promises to love, support, and choose one another through every chapter life brings.

Four months after their wedding, Elizabeth passed away. And yet those promises remain.

Their story reminds me that love isn't measured by how many years we're given. It's measured by the depth of our commitment, the memories we create, and the courage to love someone fully through better or worse, in sickness and in health.

Today, I'm remembering Elizabeth, celebrating Candace, and honoring the incredible village that came together to make this day possible.

Because every love story (and bird) deserves to be celebrated. 💙 🐦

One groom grew up going to this yacht club. The other was becoming a part of it.

Blues, whites, boats — a design rooted in many summers spent here, and a place they’ll keep coming back to together.

Two grooms.
One family legacy.
A whole weekend to celebrate both.
