We have much to be grateful for. Devoted staff. Loyal guests. Supportive community. Today our hearts are heavy with thoughts of the challenges facing restaurants as a result of our industry going dark. Up island, down island and across the country restaurant operators will experience overwhelming revenue losses. Employees will deal with unexpected debilitating unemployment. At the moment, empathy, grace and humor abound because restaurant people are caring, resilient and sassy by nature.

Food is more than survival. Around it, we make friends, court romance and count our blessings. We humans need to flock, to gather, to commune, to celebrate and commiserate in company, to break bread together in good times and tough times.

The collective wisdom is that we are in this all together. Let’s get out of this all together. Look out for each other. Stay healthy. Get help when you need it. Lend a hand when you can. @islandfoodpantry @islandgrowninitiative @mvcommunityservices

Waking up to a new way of doing things. It’s going to be a very different couple of weeks for us all, but together we can survive and thrive.

This has pretty much been my daily setup for the last two years. I wrote most of my novel right here at @rosewater_market and at the @edgartownlibrary . Cappuccino extraordinaire @quinzhill took this pic of me today in my usual spot except this time I’m holding an actual hard copy of my book! 🤯

Just over two years ago, my daily uniform was a pencil skirt, heels, and Bluetooth headset. Now it’s almost all @lululemon - which is why I’m SO psyched to be a #lululemonambassador #thesweatlife #alsothecreativelife
