One week since Rosh & Rob’s incredible destination wedding in France. 🇫🇷

I always say the people make the wedding - and wow, did this crew deliver.

Fun, warm, thoughtful, wildly collaborative and up for absolutely everything. The kind of group that makes you want to keep the weekend going long after the last dance.

There was so much laughter, so much love, and such a genuine sense of being ‘in it’ for one another.

Honestly, these are the weddings I love most.

Big love and congrats Rosh & Rob! What a fun few days! ❤️

Rehearsals are in full swing for Ravana Stotram, one of the exciting new works premiering at LEGACY this August.

The Shiva Tandava Stotram is a powerful Sanskrit hymn dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Known for its rapid, rhythmic verses and vivid imagery, the hymn describes Shiva’s cosmic dance (the Tandava), his matted locks bearing the river Ganga, and his fierce, divine beauty. Chanting or listening to it is believed to remove fear and negative energy, cultivate courage, focus and mental strength, and foster inner stability to help overcome obstacles.

Featuring new choreography by Dr Chandrabhanu OAM and an original musical composition by Krushna Chandra Ray, Ravana Stotram will be performed by 12 dancers and will premiere at LEGACY: Grand Odissi Festival.

Experience this powerful new work on stage this August.

Aug 1st, 2nd & 8th, Darebin Arts Centre, Preston

Reminiscing as we prepare for LEGACY: Grand Odissi Festival

Meet our dancers...

Roshni Vellore @roshvellore

I began Bharata-Natyam at the Chandrabhanu Bharatalaya Academy as an adult student in my 20s, but the moment I experienced Odissi, I fell in love with its grace, music, and storytelling. What began as a hobby soon became a lifelong passion.

Starting later in life, I never imagined where this journey would take me. With the encouragement of my gurus, Dr Chandrabhanu (Mamu) and Ambika Docherty, I found the confidence to keep going. Completing my Odissi Manchpravesh in 2012 was a milestone I never thought possible, and since then I have been fortunate to perform in many beautiful productions.

One of the most special aspects of this journey has been witnessing the creative process behind our work. Watching Krushna Chandra Ray (Krushnaji) compose music in class and Mamu instantly bring it to life through choreography is truly magical. To then learn and perform these works is a privilege I will never take for granted.

Among the many pieces I have performed, the Geeta Govinda love songs and Oriya abhinaya items remain especially close to my heart. More recently, I had the privilege of learning and performing Dashamahavidya, Mamu’s magnum opus. After a period of Sadhna, he entrusted us with this sacred work, making it one of the most profound experiences of my life.

From the beautiful sets of the late Geoffrey Goldie and Mamu’s intricate choreography, to Ambika’s stunning costumes and the sublime voice of Krushnaji accompanied by a live orchestra from Orissa, every element comes together to create something unforgettable.

As we prepare to honour the works of Dr Chandrabhanu and Krushnaji through LEGACY, I feel immense gratitude for this journey and would love for you to experience it with us.
